How to avoid being traced by Jagex?

So basically with the whole situation with people getting mass banned for name hoarding has made me paranoid. I was wondering if there is a way that you guys get around being traced between multiple accounts.

Some facts:
All the accounts were created on my main computer
All the accounts were created at my house
Membership for each, if applicable was bonds

Edit : Forgot to say, i plan on making a completely new account. I will not b logging onto the old ones anymore.

 

you can alternatively use something such as a VPN or Proxy. You can hide your home IP from future use on the accounts but it won't hide it when you originally made your account

if you make a new account under a VPN and continue to use VPN to log in, nobody will know your origion.

 

Be careful what (static) VPN you use, however. A surprising number of them don't work well with Java and those that do are probably used by other people trying to mask their activities.

 

Any way to test if mine does?

 

So, if I reset my computer to factory settings and change my IP would I be fine to never be connected to those accounts (I wont be logging in on any old ones either, just the new one I make).

 

Doesn't that just give you the same problem with a new creation ip?

 

Well I was hoping to be able to create a brand new account which is not associated with any of my old ones. So basically id like to ditch my RuneScape past and start fresh.

So how exactly do they trace accounts back to another? Id like to be able to play on my computer normally at home still

 

I'm curious if they go by your computer MAC address.
Maybe they do maybe they don't.

They don't, they only go by IP.

 

So this is my speculation based on my limited knowledge on computer networks, etc.

The IP check has to be a secondary confirmation based on two accounts associating with each other in game. Think about it... they have 150 million plus accounts thus billions of IPs recorded. They can't search them and rely on the results with IP addresses being cycled so much. If you look at your IP history on Sythe (or mine, for example), you'll see we have similar problems with multiple, unrelated accounts have the same IP.

If two accounts interact suspiciously AND have the same IP, then they know 100% it's the same person. Otherwise IP alone isn't enough, so I think a hard IP reset through your ISP would do the trick. Clear your cookies/ Jagex file as well(probably not necessary but I really don't know).

 

Any tips on obtaining a new IP? I have contacted my ISP but they said they can't force an IP change. I have a dynamic IP however it rarely changes.

 

Make your random.dat file "read only" or possibly delete it. Doing so allows you to log in multiple accounts at once, and possibly allows Jagex to trace accounts in some other way.

 

They base it off entirely IP and location. I know this because its the same way they check if a player moderator account was compromised or not. They apply the same methodology to all aspect, i.e: Account Recovery (Instant lock, blacklisted, Instant Denials), also Name checks, if accounts are created in a short period of time all from within a certain radius it causes a flag which is then investigated by a higher personnel. I'm not sure about what they scrutinize after that point, but if you make sure you aren't making hoards from within your native I.P, you should be fine.

 

So if I simply change my IP I will be unattatched to my previously made accounts (as long as I don't log in from my old ones).
