We will NEVER have earth 100% mapped out, so that's not really a good reason to ignore what's off our planet.

OT: NASA has significant powers that a privatized industry such as SpaceX does not. Charles F Bolden spoke at my university a few years ago and stated something along the lines of: "We will lose people in this venture. Did you hear that? I said we will lose people, they will die, or they will not come home.'

This is the most significant difference IMO. Some funds may be improperly allocated, sure, but overall I think NASA is better for the USA than it is bad.

I am not educated on what NASA does, and only have the general idea that they are the biggest group existing for space exploration.
On the part that they lost $125 million because they have not met a consensus for their measuring system, yes, that was a pretty stupid mistake and they need to get their shit together.

And I'm having trouble understanding the relation between the last two examples and NASA "having to get their shit together," can you elaborate?

Last, the thread specifically states that NASA should get their shit together, but NASA isn't the only government organization that should do so. Tens of times of more billions of dollars are spent your currently failed education system, that truly needs their shit to be gotten together

    hahahaha

NASA has always employed private contractors. They have also already privatized their rockets.

This I did not know. Seems they're taking a step or two in the right direction.

Eh, maybe, maybe not. I would never put it past either a gov't or a private corporation to try and rort the government for more money when doing any sort of job.
