name price checkers

I have noticed that some people give wrong price checkers for name on purpose or on accident. So i though about why not have people that are unbised price checkers that will have a rank so we can get a accurate price check on our names. As long as its not to hard to implement.

 

This would help the name sales section alot.

There is no wrong or right price.

 

name price checking is completely opinionated, a name to one person is worth a completely different amount to someone else, names can't be price checked accurately IMO, ever. I've had people ask how much a name is from me, i give them the price that i feel its worth, they tell me i'm crazy and delete me telling me i'll never get that much etc etc, then a few weeks later someone adds me, and happily offers me what i ask for and i sell it. I do agree with some bias PC's though, personally i cba to constantly correct some but, some PC's are huge lowballs on what they're worth (IN MY OPINION), as i've sold names of the same standard for more.

I've sold so many names for very large amounts and have experienced lots of different prices, really its all about what the buyers after and how much they have to spend.

Sure, you can obviously say a name like "King" would go for more than a name like "Jumbo", but King to one person could be worth 2b, and to someone else 150m.

Anyway, its a pretty cool idea OP, but there are more factors that should be taken into account than just the name when PCing, like how trusted the user is (people have specifically told me they'd pay more if its from someone trusted, as a few emails to jagex can get a name reversed ever after its legitimately xferred), whether or not they get the account with the name on, whether or not the seller is taking responsibility if it gets sniped(which is rare) etc etc.

If people want to see what a names worth then put it up for sale, publicly or privately, and take bids on it for a few weeks and see what a good few people are offering, though you never know just after you sell it someone might post a request for it offering 2x what you sold it for, (this happened to me lost out big time) but its the way this market is.


Anyway, in a few weeks when all the names are finished releasing the price checking thread will die down again rapidly and go back to having 1 request/day

 

I agree with what Alex said. I know that this thread is probably somewhat directed at me, but I'm not going to get into that.

Here's why I think this won't work: Name price checking is opinionated. It always has been, and it always will be. The basic function of Pcing a name is to look through your eyes and think about what it's worth, and to type that out. No matter how hard you try, you will always leave a hint of your own tastes on a name through your PCs. I've even tried hard not to, but some people point out I PC a name too high, or too low.

But to be perfectly honest ATM, I don't think there's no one worthy of that sort of rank ATM. Keep in mind, awarding someone the title of price checker can be used as a tool to earn trust, which I'm not sure anyone in the section has fully earned yet.

 

Not directed at anybody i see some people pcing name extremely low.

 

Who cares what people pc your names for? Try to sell it, and whatever price you get is the amount it's worth. We don't have account price checkers; we don't need name ones either. Maybe post in the price checks forum if you want a more unbiased opinion.

 

No support. As alex said, based on opinions. Also, I agree with superfluous... Just try to sell it and see what you can get.

 

All opinionated, very creative and thoughtful idea although it really wouldn't have an actual effect on sales.
For that reason, I don't exactly support. Of course with all due respect to the idea, and yourself.

Edit: As an after thought and after reading a post above, he is right in saying that truly whatever a person is offering that may be the highest price is an obvious sign of what the name is worth. Lowballers will be lowballers, but there can never be an actual said price on something such as a name, it all truly depends on how it connects with someone who may want to buy it.

 

theres no such thing as an accurate price check because everyone likes different names
