    Post op ankle surgery

Back in November I broke my right ankle in 4 places, and fractured my left ankle in 2 places. Had surgery December 23, 2013 on right ankle as my left ankle wales correctly. They shaved the bone on my right ankle and let it heal on its own. It has done so, and now I can not walk with the foot straightened out, or bare all my weight on it. Also it is still swollen and hurting extremely bad. I had insurance at the time of surgery, but now I do not. Also I now live in Louisiana, surgery was in Alabama at UAB. I can fly back to UAB, as that's the only place I trust to do surgeries.

My problem is I don't know if I can go back and be treated without insurance. Could they just bill me after fixing my foot? I'll be able to do payments. Not the best people person, as I get angry over the phone easily. Tried calling them last week, but couldn't understand the lady, nor do I understand much English when people speak it, I speak Bosnian.

I'm fairly certain you can be treated for any surgery without insurance, the issue isn't whether or not you have the insurance, it's more how much it will cost you if you don't and whether or not they'll allow you to pay that balance because some places work simply off of insurance, you'd have to call and ask about that.

With a situation like this, your best bet would be asking them over the phone to clarify things like this. If you're uncomfortable speaking to them on the phone, I'd suggest asking a friend of yours to direct your questions toward them because truth be told, only your past physician can answer all of these questions.

I'll be able to do payments of $350 a month, on current budget. Will call tomorrow and have a mate translate for me. Didn't think of getting someone to talk that knows perfect English. THANKS DAVE!
