The ambiguous future of Sythe

If you think the site is fine as is, you must not have much experience with forums. I guess that's a rough statement, as I think the site is currently alright, but at the current rate it won't be for much longer.

 

honestly he has a point, this forum was simply devoted to virtual sales and the black market and the community aspect was a nice addition to it. the community is there but when the game that made this forum a success starts to die down so will the forum... its not like sythe has made this place all about runescape but its simply the biggest market and the main reason a lot of people post on this forum still. changing from that would be a mistake and i feel like sythe knows the gravity of the situation more then anyone.

 

I doubt Richard wants it to die down as soon as runescape dies down. The site has the potential to move forward, and be improved. Richard wants it to be improved hence the suggestions and feedback forums.

 

yes and each suggestions is a minor change that betters the site right? theres no miracle he can pull here, this place isnt just a runescape market its a market for any game yet it has a reputation for a big runescape market. all the other markets are active but not a busy place like runescape. if richard changed the direction of sythe it could either make or break the site, so making a rash decision would be irresponsible right?

 

I personally think Advertising and a more liberal approach to punishments needs to be implemented. However, Richard has said numerous times Advertising was tried in the past many years ago and reeled no results. I still believe it to be a great tool.

I will elaborate on what I believe would be positive changes soon.

 

Hmm... I was quite surprised to see that our site traffic has improved. And though Runescape's traffic may be steady, we all know how many of those players are bots...

As for your second point, I understand, though no effort has ever been made, and is still not made to do anything different.

I offered cash for someone to even give a shit about [what should be] one of the highest activity non-market areas of Sythe. Nothing.
It's true that the site will never die. It may shrivel at times, but you can't kill it. There will always be games, and there will always be ways to cheat at them and currency to trade. Gamers switch games, and need to sell out of one game and buy into another. That's the flow of it and we're right in the middle.

As to the comments regarding site improvement, what do you think is wrong, exactly? What improvements are you asking? It's a forum. Hell with miniranks I think they're adding too much as it is, there really isn't a need for nonsense features. You're trying to find a game within Sythe, when Sythe is where you should be between games.

 

Look, the RS market is what it is, there were people years ago on this forum saying the same thing: that Sythe was going to die out with Runescape when the wilderness was changed, when the Grand Exchange was introduced, but none of it ever affected Sythe to where it was a ghost town.

Tbh Sythe IS made for Runescape. Period. If you were around back in 06-07 there were NO forums for other games. It was all about RS, botting and the marketplace, and imo since the same formula has worked for almost ten years, why should it be changed now?

I think it should stay a market and just pursue other popular games. RS isnt the only shitty MMO kids are playing, when it "dies" (still fucking waiting) there will be another. Hopefully sythe.org can pave the way for cheating in that game too.

Even if the site tried to do something else we would never shake the ~10 years of black marketing/cheating the site has been associated with.

 

I do not see a future for Sythe as any sort of gaming forum. We cannot change genres so drastically without losing thousands of our current members.

I'd like us to continue on the path we are on now and continue embracing some of our new markets like Cryptos and maybe even some day have some sort of Sythe currency and own the virtual trading black market.

There were no other gaming forums... There was ONE forum "Other Games". If you had looked at the link I provided, you would have seen this.

The problems stem from the 1/2 brained mods that with a rank allows them to feel better about themselves by doing shit they'd get knocked out for in real life. And from the rules that allow them to do so. There's really only a couple mods that I'd agree deserve their position (Dave, Josh0isHere,) and maybe one or two more but I can't remember their names.

 

No sythe currency; just stick with the btc/major coins for now.

I'm mostly here to talk smack in spam forum and earn bad monies with these two advertisement sigs.
