Blue Yeti Microphone issues.

Basically, this mic sounds like dick.

Barely picks up my voice, picks up clicking and keyboard louder than my voice. I used to sit a good bit away but tried moving closer. My computer is under my desk and there's an AWFUL amount of feedback when playing csgo. it's a hum that drowns out audio for my entire team.

I would recommend picking up a mic boom and a shock mount. Put the mic near your face. Turn the gain ALL THE WAY DOWN. ALL. It should not be turned up. AT ALL. It should be turned down as far as it goes.

From there, adjust the volume in windows. The mic gain is shit on the yeti, and does not need to be toyed with.

My gain is all the way down. It wasn't in the video but it still doesn't help.

 

It's worth it. You can see the difference if you go to my stream and compare my audio between the streams when I had the mic in front of me, and the ones when it was being hung over my monitors by the boom.

 

How does it help though? Bringing it closer to my face? I just have no idea why it picks up so much sound.

Another thing you can do is set up a noise gate in OBS. That way the mic only activates when you speak.

 

Still sounds better than mine.

If you want I can record a voice loopback in csgo. It's bad.

I might try it out but i don't sit that close to my desk...or my mic at that.

 

I haven't had the chance to actually listen to your video, I'm replying to this at work. Are you sure you have the gain turned all the way down though? Also what's the mic volume set at on windows?

 

Just watched the video. All I have to say is you really should invest in a shock mount/boom.

As of right now, you have the yeti setting on your desk. Any/all vibrations are going through the base of the mic and are being picked up by it.

Mount/boom really isn't all that expensive and is definitely a worthwhile investment. You can then "hang" it over your monitor or out of the way, adjust your audio accordingly, set up a noise gate, and you'll be much better off.

EDIT - it just bothers me spending so much money on a stream that will probably go nowhere.

Once I buckled down and got serious about it, about 4-6 months.

 

Yeah, I haven't gotten to that point yet. I'm getting into Muay Thai and shift work sucks to stream, but I figure I can try eventually. I guess I'll sit down one day. When's the most traffic? Sat nights? I'll just sit down, get a viewerbot and my friends to post a bit and hopefully people will come. If not, :s

 

Europeans make up a big amount of my traffic. Also, doing early morning/late night streams (if you're able to do them) help - People get desperate to find English streams.

Whenever I do my 24 hour or late night streams, I always get people coming in, and the first thing they say is "OMG FINALLY A ENGLISH STREAMER" or something along those lines.

You just have to find what works best for you man.

And my windows volume is around 80% iirc. gain's at nothing.

 

80% is really high tbh. It's picking up a lot of ambient.

I'd try setting it lower and if absolutely necessary, adjust the gain EVER SO SLIGHTLY.
