Thoughts on these pictures?

Context: These were taken by artist Erik Ravelo who decided to use his artistic talent to bring the focus to the injustice that children face in our world. Each photo represents a child’s loss of innocence, through no fault of their own.

Interesting. I don't get the doctor one though. Is he harvesting organs or something.

 

Im unimpressed entirely. In fact its fucking offensive, I mean seriously. Why are they sprawled out like a crucifix.

Hardly what I would consider art. More like what some 15-16 year old goth kid considers edgy.

 

Correct. The doctor one focuses on illegal organ trafficking and that the victims are usually impoverished children from third world countries.

 

But that's the whole point. It's suppose to be offensive and make you feel uncomfortable. Sometimes the truth hurts. Like Jesus was crucified, similarly these kids are being crucified on the cross of their oppressors.

 

The first four are poignant enough, but yeah, I'd agree that the last two are somewhat distasteful. I don't get the cross imagery either; if he's going for disturbing a hug would be more appropriate.

 

I personally am not offended but it is distasteful. You drank the kool aid this faggot is dishing out, so talking to you may be useless, but this shit is a little too on the nose for my tastes. The pictures and blurred faces makes it look like a guy with no camera skill whatsoever took them.

As for the blurred faces, Facebook decided to censor Ravelo's photos. I can try to find the uncensored versions if you want. In any case art is art; and if we can't express ourselves freely in America, where can we?
