Are there any plans to improve this site systematically? As the days go by, the site continues to degrade itself with the users tainting it. We all know there isn't much development because there are only two people capable of doing so, and time is of the essence. I understand the importance of life, so if there are troubles I can relate. It seems like this place has been at a stalemate for quite some time without much explanation.

Sythe will wane with Runescape. I don't think it could make it without the backing of the Runescape blackmarket community so when RS tanks Sythe will. There isn't enough of a legitimate community left to support the site without the large RS market.

I meant improvements to the current system, eg sythe chat.

What do you mean exactly by "site continues to degrade itself"?

Other than fixing sythe chat what development are you proposing?

The site has seen a modest increase in traffic over the last six months, up from all time lows. We will continue to expand and add features as necessary. However we treat the codebase as financial software. Other people's money is at risk if we accidentally introduce an exploitable bug. That means we have to be careful with coding and cannot just introduce anything willynilly. We also need to be careful who we let modify the codebase.

The rules of the site, but lets forget that.

Oh, I was wondering if you had any plans.

I'll begin with sythe chat. It needs to be graphically updated. With that and proper additions to it, I can see it being used a lot changing the site completely. (May drive users away from Skype)

    @Red text

Have you ever considered bringing back Sythe live chat? Based on your analytics it's not far fetched to ask. The site has come to a point where extra help is needed. This may also stop users from posting repetitive threads that can be asked in the live chat, stop hacked victims faster and protect the users of this site, and lastly of course help users with general inquiries.

Does Sythe have an about page?

This is not necessary, but would be a nice addition.

    Ever considered adding Sythe subscriptions?

Similar to donations, but requires a monthly payment. This will help future Sythe developments.

What can you offer with Sythe subscriptions?

Cut down the bump time of threads in half.
A new post icon that stands out from the rest.
They can enter in the prizebox raffles every month.
Able to have black shaded UI's?

These are some ideas, but it's worth it in the long run.

This was just a mock up.

I agree wholeheartedly about the lack of developers being a serious issue.

Richard is too busy to devote himself to projects full time.

Matthew takes forever to do anything, because he's flooded, and the things that he contributes development wise is too little too late.

I don't know if we have anyone else programming, it doesn't seem like it. Too many suggestions are shot down because "it'd be too difficult" when in reality they're simple improvements.

There has to be more than two people qualified to work on the site.

It's a blackmarket online currency trading game based on a game with falling interest and profit margins.

If nobody buys cars, the tire store is going to lose business.

There's also a long post about the age of users that joined in the peak and bans, etc, but i can't seem to find it at the moment.

I've said it multiple times, and I'll say it again. The best move for the future of sythe.org is to become a gaming community. We have the funds, the hosting and the professional gaming player base to accomplish this.

From sponsoring professional e-sports teams to hosting tournaments, etc by ourself, we can make more money to the Sythe name than we do now as well as removing the current limit on the website. There's really no way for us to expand, as we're not reaching a large enough demographic.

eSports is gaining popularity in very, very high amounts. Every amount of entrepreneurship training in me is telling me to get on the wagon as soon as possible, unfortunately I'm not able in this point in my career.

I'd quite like Richard to take a look at my points above and respond subjectively. I have tons of ideas of how to move forward as a gaming community and expand vastly. If we do it right, we will get huge.

Sadly, if we choose to move towards a gaming community, we will have to move away from the blackmarket of gaming entirely. I know that some of the market members would hate this, but it's best for the site itself. You can't exactly sponsor teams and clans in MMO's, MoBA's or FPS games while hosting illegal (against ToS) services for those games as well.

Richard and anyone else who isn't an idiot, please give me some feedback to this idea.

I'm all for it, but I think it could be a bit risky and potentially detrimental to Sythe.org. Quite a large percent of donations to this site are from people using the blackmarket part. People use a free site to make money so in exchange they give a little back. Of course it doesn't apply to everyone, but I think it covers the majority.

Donations aside, I really like the idea. I have no interest in Runescape anymore and really all I do on here now is check the League of Legends / Off Topic sections and then leave.

I've mentioned numerous times the idea of Sythe going into other games (specifically I've mentioned interest in a Sythe TF2 server) but every time the response is, "well if you pay for it you can run an unofficial one" and that hasn't exactly worked in the past.

After reading Blade's post.. I have to agree.

Runescape is dying. That's obvious, and even if that takes 5 years, it's still going to die along with the blackmarket. The only reason Sythe thrived the past 8 or 9 years is because Runescape was at a peak which increased the activity of the blackmarket.

eSports is becoming HUGE and being recognized all over the world. If we move away from the blackmarket area's of video games and turn it into a legitimate gaming site then we could sponsor teams, as I know there plenty of professional gamers who frequent Sythe.

First off, please read the bold and pay attention before you post. Clicking "view post" to see your nonsense gets quite old, just get banned already.

If you're going to shut my ideas down, post reasoning.

We all know that with the site's current demographic audience and forum focus, it won't continue to thrive as it has in the past, and web stats prove that.

Something needs to be changed and happen new, or it'll die a slow and painful death.

    > Says we are at risk, when that's not true.
    > Suggests we take an even bigger risk.

That's instant death. What do you gain from constantly provoking everyone on this site? Use some common sense. We are trying to improve this site, not kill it.

His idea makes some sense, but there are better ways to do this. As of now, we're fine as we are.

@Rich. You say you'll continue to add features as necessary, but if you can't update your current ones, and make them of use, there's no point. Stick to one or two projects, at least make them bearable.

Exactly, Runescape is still fine, as that is what we're running off of. When RS starts dying down even more, it might be an option to consider. As of now, we need to have dev continued and in general the community worked on.

Idk what more people want. A simple forum thats been dedicated toward Runescape ordeals for years. It has all the necessary features that are simple to grasp without any other need for bloatware feature or w/e it is people here are talking about.
