Thread Title Ability For Donors

Im pretty sure donors are 1 group. And increasing inbox space was an issue where people suggested higher donors gets more space. Richard or Matthew (cant remember which exactly) said a new group would have to be created if donors were to have different inbox space. In the end they increased all donors inbox space, could have been to avoid creating another user group. If this suggestions ends up requiring creating a new usergroup, then odds are it won't happen unless it's available to all donors.

Edit: Staff are usually quick with title changes anyway.

 

Support, would be cool to be able to close/lock own threads too.

 

Higher donors only if you apply the perk to donors. However, I dont see this suggestion beeing accepted anytime soon.

It would be easy for the people to just change the title often for fake advertising and mods would have to check all the time... If ever this suggestion is accepted, please do a rule stating something like : if we catch you doing a fake advertising with your title, we will remove your right to change thread title.

 

That's a good point when you say it like that? I like what Ghast said, $300+ donors only so there isn't a lot of people with the ability to do it, but the people who can are probably using the market a lot, so it will benefit them. Ofc I would rather 200$+ donors tho

 

1. It's not safe. Having the ability to change your title actually leaves room for a lot of scams, especially with account sales. Obviously it being a high donor perk might give us reason to believe that they're entitled to it but many high donors in the past have scammed and this would be a way that they could hide it.

2. I don't think it's possible with the current boards that we use so Sythe wouldn't approve it regardless.

 

How is it not safe? I can just as easily create a new thread... I mean what could someone possibly change their thread title too to make it much easier to scam. I mean sure they can change their thread to advertise more vouches, but if they are caught; which won't be that hard, they can get TWC'd.

 

You can lie about feedbacks (vouches), you can also have an account sale up for a certain type of account and then once it's sold change the title and the pictures and then recover the account claiming it was never sold and instead the bogus account you put up is the one that was sold.

Can't you do that already? I mean I can right now make a thread advertising 100+ vouches and no one would probably notice I have 65. About the account selling; I can just make my title "Selling Cheap Account" and have a main worth $150. Then once I sell it just edit the post and say I sold a lvl 3 with 10 days of memb left and recover the main.

Like I said in the previous post, Fake advertising would be a problem that mods would have to check and I dont think they actually have lots of time to check constantly thread titles :/

 

I'm going to change my position and agree with you. It's a power that shouldn't be given to normal users.

 

There are a couple reasons why this is on the Do Not Suggest list:

People could very easily cover up scams if they could edit both the thread body and title as they pleased.

The thread title makes the thread url, which search engines remember. We will be penalized by google if thread urls keep changing more frequently, which they no doubt would if members could change their own.
