Ideas for a possible competition!

Greetings, Sythe Community!

I am currently looking into possibly hosting a tournament for the Sythe community.

I need your ideas on a competition you think you'd like to see. Some recommendations already have been 3v3 League of Legends, Hearthstone, and a few others. Now is your chance to chime in on something you'd maybe like to see.

Planned Prize: 1 Billion RS 3 gp, or the equivalent in PP cash, sponsored entirely by myself. This would likely be given to an admin or moderator to help legitimize the competition so people know they're not wasting their time.

However, we are only in the opening stages of a possible competition, so please bear with me as I try to get this set-up, the competition would likely be in August or September, possibly earlier, possibly later.

Important: Along with proposing a game or tournament to have, please list if how you think the prizes should be divided. For example, if it's an LoL tournament, should only 1 3 v 3 team split the 1bil, or should it be a top 3 team splitting the pot, with the higher the place obviously getting more to split.

Advantages:

You can hop servers + find an empty world/server (it's pretty dead anyway, it's old)

Nobody AMAZING at it, at least I doubt it.

Fair game for everyone, equal opportunity

Easy game to learn

 

I say split the pot! Top three wins.

You could do a 3v3 or 5v5 tourny, best of 3. 700 mil for 1 , 200 mill 2nd, 100 mill 3rd

So, you'd be thinking an LoL tournament then?

 

I personally don't play LoL (yet), so I wouldn't be participating, however I think a LoL tournament would definitely draw the most attention.

As I've said, I don't play LoL, but from what little I know, I'd think Sephiroth's set-up would work. Top three teams should split the pot.

it would reward 12 players who are on here, and make it fun!

I know this may be a change of scenery but I'd like to share my ideas.

Maybe a competition on a games console of your choice.

For example: Singles or doubles on FIFA 14 would be a great idea.

Referring to the rewards system Sepiroth kindly suggested.

 

Changing my support to this. It would even out the playing field and allow more of the community to get involved. May be hard to coordinate the games though

 

I love this idea, the only problem is the wide difference in consoles people on Sythe may have. I don't want to limit people to not being able to participate because they don't have the required items to do so.

I also want the competition to be available to the entire community, admins, mods, brand new members, anyone can join.

Stopsign gave me an excellent idea, he pointed out maybe doing multiple games and having a standings system in place. This would require an aptitude for various games, and maybe a little luck too

 

I like the looks of the Tank game Also I like the idea of having multiple types of games.

 

Sucks I don't game all that much, that gp would be handy ^_^

Typically you should steer for games where people can be on at different times. Although not always easy to find a game. You could always set a challenge for a particular game, I'll take the example of Fifa from above (although I'm not really sure how it works) and see who can get the most X, fastest X, so on?

 

If you want a lot of competitors, it has to be a game that everyone is able to play.

600m 1st place
300m 2nd place
100m 3rd place

 

Tankball 2 is good for a few more reasons:

Easy to co-ordinate, could do 1 v 1 matchups.

Browser game, no add-ons needed (Runs on Adobe Shockwave)

Runs on any computer, not intensive.

Cans witch world/server + find an empty world to play someone 1v1 on.

 

if you were going to do a Console Contest, then do two. One for Xbox one for PS3. SPlit the prize pool in half then split those pools 3 ways, 1st 2nd 3rd

 

We should do a who can draw the best Sephiroth

Looking for other thoughts on games, ideas, thoughts on Tankball 2, etc.

I might even do a World Cup style format. Group stages and then knockouts. It's a huge prize pot, so this will be a somewhat sophisticated + lengthy tournament.

That's my vision for it at least.

I think it would be best to not limit to such a small group. Not everyone plays League, not everyone has an Xbox or a PS3. I think the best type of competition that will have the most active participants is one similar to the Holiday events. Different tasks that reward points. Team events that reward points. This reaches a broader audience and you can have different activities in this that are actual games that can also reward points.

 

Like a few others said, having games such as LoL or games on Xbox/Ps3 will definitely limit the amount of people joining. I feel like tankball 2 is a great idea as everyone should have an equal chance and would attract several people from the community. Thanks for doing this btw!

I actually hate LoL and wouldnt be participating if this was a LoL competition. I would say keep the competition out of the games we have here (ex: the Pool competition right now). Its more fair and people will like it more. If you do a LoL competition on a rs based market forum and new people at LoL wants to try, they have no chance to win so think about that. Also, splitting the reward would be the best
