A quick discussion of the metagame- its been awhile

Hi all. Was a very high elo S2 player. School became stressful, solo q became stressful..I stopped having fun with the game, quit, sold my account, etc.

I'm now coming back and finding some enjoyment in the game (level 10~ games are actually pretty fun, no one uses the word "elo" which, even though I probably had more than I deserved, I hated hearing. Play to get better, not for ranking.)

Anyways, current tier lists? I googled what I could but it's always better to have a personal discussion.

Anyways, my favorite champions back in the day (some may not be strictly s2, i'm not sure when exactly I quit. I think in the yasuo or whoever was after him...although they now release champions much less frequently) were definitely ezreal, zed, irelia, and riven. I preferred top lane for my most competitive play but found that carrying in solo q was easiest for me when in the AD carry role. Anyways, are any of my favorites still viable? It's hard to nerf irelia..ezreal showed up as tier 1 (not god tier) in several lists as an AD. Is he no longer played mid/top? Not even in Korea or anything? How's Riven?

Any champions that are exceptional at stomping low elo? Perhaps some that have always been or some that have been tweaked/released recently? I don't like the kassadin style of play. I can tolerate Katarina but I much prefer Riven/Ezreal kind of carrying. I can either do everything, Riven, or capitalize on my superior mechanics and kite/cs as Ez. eh.

What ELO were you in season 2?

 

Dia 3s Gold Solo q Plat 5s.

May have gotten carried just a bit on the 3s (the guys I was playing with were personal friends, literally consistently top ranked 3s players on the NA server, sold high ranking teams, etc.)

But yeah, some good times.

 

Gold's not high ELO xd. Still, good achievement.

Metagame is more or less fast push and team fight orientated atm.

 

is that why alot of laneswaps happen? so they can easily open up the map and be more agressive?

 

This is pretty much only the case in high-level (read: pro) games. The meta for solo queue and lower MMR ranked 5s is the same as it's always been as far as being a 1-1-2 plus jungler clusterfuck until like 25 minutes, then rough catches into sort-of teamfights into baron throws and impromptu shoves down a single lane as a result.

Bruisers generally rule the top lane, assassins or wave clear mages are the norm in mid, and bot lane is the strongest supports (probably Braum and Nami at the moment) with the strongest ADs. Junglers are actually decently diverse right now - but support-tank junglers are out in favor of higher-DPS junglers with good ganks and strong scaling into mid or late game.

 

I hear Irelia is in a good spot?

 

At low elo, most players won't know how to deal with a fed Riven or Irelia.

ADC's weren't as good as before but the recent buffs to adc items might've helped - dunno, haven't adc'ed much currently. Main thing is that low elo players don't know to peel for you if you're a snowballed adc... actually, many probably don't even know what that is

 

Irelia isn't bad, but honestly I wouldn't worry about that, if you really want to play the "best" champions then go look at the LCS and see what they play, otherwise find champions you enjoy playing. I play Katarina mid and she isn't exactly meta, but I enjoy her and I do well on her so it works out.

Yeah I know. Oddly enough champions I like playing tend to be in the higher tiers
