SGDQ 2014 (Summer Games Done Quick)

SGDQ is a 5 day long (no breaks) stream of the best video game speedrunners. All proceeds and donation go to charity (Doctors without borders this year). If you are unfamiliar with speedrunning, it is when somebody attempts to complete a game as fast as possible (either by getting to the boss level fastest, or completing all the tasks fastest). People usually speedrun older games like mario and zelda because they are shorter and have more shortcuts and less RNG.

i watch that stream every year so cool the most i enjoyed was portal 2, what a beast that guy was

Are these legit speedrunners or do they use cheap exploits to shave off time - aka glitches + things the developer never intended?

Half the time I watch these "speed runs", it's just people cheating...

 

Rules of speedrunning is you are allowed to glitch as long as it is in the original games code. You aren't allowed to "break" the game or use third party things to help you win. You also aren't allowed to exit the current session (save glitches). I kind of like seeing some of the skips and glitches because they take a lot of timing and perfect placement and camera angles.
