REOPENING: Make a section just for sports

I told you I'd be back. I will post any user support in this post as well.


Part I - The Importance of a Sports Section

A sports section provides a place for in-depth discussion about non-virtual games such as hockey, baseball, football, football (soccer), rugby, cricket, olympics, basketball, etc. Not only will there be discussion about professional sports athletes and teams, we can allow threads about improving your talent for all those athletes out there. Everybody is related to a sport in someway or another. Whether you like to hunt competitively or like to play kickball with friends, I'm sure there is another Sythe user who can provide a nice discussion about those things.


Part II - The reason the sports section was closed

The sports section was closed because of "inactivity". I put it in quotes because this is extremely untrue. It was more active than a handful of forums on Sythe. The sports section was never "dead" and always had a couple posts per day. I think some forgot to realize that unlike playing videogames, you can't watch and discuss sports all day because your sport may not be in season or on TV. So, you have to allow for a day or two of inactivity every month or so when there isn't any important sports news or games to discuss.


Part III - Support from Sythe Users

 

I was never aware there was a sports section. But I would be willing to see one. If it's decided against having one then posting where I have been posting is okay as well. But I will go ahead and offer support.

 

Staff is stubborn. You could give the best reasons possible and they still won't aid us.

 

Would like to see the picture you intended to have there. But yeah, I'm all for it, especially with the World Cup in a month. I would post several times a day given the right environment, and I'm sure that many other users would do similarly. I'd give up crypto for sports in a heartbeat.

So you feel 6 threads need their own section? Hardly.

There isn't enough activity to warrant its own section. Also the fact that having semi active subforums brought together (i.e gen disc), is far better than inactive individual forums. You also need to remember that most of those threads are seasonal, and are not continuous in nature.

 

What an elementary way of viewing this.

Let me break it down for you.

Take cryptocurrency for example. Before the creation of the sub forum, there was little to no talk about it in market discussion. Why was it made? Because they felt that the introduction of Sythe Wallet (which has yet to come), and the popularity of bitcoin would have a significant impact on a forum that hasn't been created. What is different about sports?

There are certain events in sports that will boost the sections activity exponentially. This includes drafts, playoffs, standings and any other important outlet in sports that drive the attention of masses. Is this not the same as cryptocurrency?

You would be bias to say otherwise. Spamming sports threads in general discussion is a bad idea which is why users are inclined to stick to one. 6 threads are enough to show significant interest in the subject. Anyone with an open mind would be able to notice that, no offense.

 

Couldn't have said it better myself. The reason there are only 6 threads is because ALL sports related discussion has to be crammed into the threads to even be seen. People would start to complain if somebody made a sports thread for every major event in the "General Discussion" section, yet people would appreciate the constant discussion if there were a sports section.

The staff is limiting the space we can discuss sports in, then use that as their proof that there isn't enough sports discussion to warrant it's own forum.

Another good example is the "Software sales" section which could easily be listed under the "Digital Currency and Non-Game Sales" section. There are probably a few better examples of this but I need to sleep

 

I supported your initial bid to bring this back by posting about Sport in the General Discussions board, and I'll continue to do so. Support - If we keep it active we'll get there.

 

I support... Maybe instead of "Sport" have "Sport & Fitness" ??

That would generalise the sport section to adapt to deeper discussions revolving around "sport"

 

Difference being Crypto's hadn't been tried before. The sports section was removed only some months ago because it was dead. There will have to be substantial increase in activity before a sub removed for inactivity is added again.

 

Roary define what is "active" in your mind.

No way it'd be dead. Unless you want to say the Runescape sections aren't dead..which get a few new posts a day...

I think it'd be pretty active, comparatively to everything else.
