Full Screen Window Lock

Hey,

I have a program which is used for writing quizzes from Finance in my university; We have to do it in the lesson from now on [due to the professors suspecting dishonesty] - The problem is, I have to run an application to do the quiz, which doesn't allow me to Alt Tab or swap screens via the touchpad on my macbook.

Anyone any ideas on how I could bypass my screen being locked until I exit the program?

Edit: Problem is, I'm not quite sure how the program does this, therefore I have no idea as to how this could bypassed. If anyone has any ideas, please pop them below, so I can try them.
Edit2: I tried creating more desktops on my macbook and switching between them whilst doing the quiz, but it wouldn't allow me to do that either, for some reason.
