I would like to start by wishing the best of luck to you TTB.

After calculating all the money that I lost here, on sythe, and in the duel arena I realised that for a 16 year old it was way to much, about $950. I went shopping one day and there were so many things I wanted to buy but just couldn't afford because of the money I lost. After realising how much I lost and how I just couldn't stop the only option I had was to try and find another hobby and leave sythe. Luckily I did find a hobby, basketball, which I still love today. I got the confidence that I could fight the gambling addiction so I have rejoined sythe. I know I haven't loss much compared to you but it is quite a lot for me.

The main moral of this story is that no matter how much you win you will always lose. I remember times when I was up 50M in the duel arena, then in under 10 mins I have lost everything. My problem was that I would just sell some things that I used to love before my addiction so I could buy more RSGP to just lose again at the duel arena.

I know this is long but I would just like to share my story about this. This thread is such a great idea, I should of thought of it earlier. Anyway I just like the wish TTB and anybody else the best of luck with fighting this addiction/disease/disorder.

At least you have finally been able to conquer your addiction. Yeah it's sad that you lost the amount you did, but now things can only go uphill. Imagine how much more you could have lost in your life if you hadn't taken action to stop the addiction when you did. Stay strong and never gamble again. Thanks for the support!

I'm sorry everyone. Day 42, not check.

I'm really sorry. I just cracked. They needed splits in dragon dyce, so I decided to go in a few hundred mil with my 1.2b stack that I was using for flipping. According to the guidelines I set in my original post, that's completely fine since it's in my odds, but we lost...so I tried to make it back...gambling. I made another account, bought it a bond, and then joined the irc using my phone. I made the money back after some bets plus some, and I went to sleep happy. But that cracked me. So of course I went back today to try to gamble more using the same method since my stupid brain realized I could. I did a few bets, not really going up or down much, and then I bet 10m on 60x2. Then 20m. Then 60m. Then 120m. Then 240m. Then 400m. Then 660m. Then I was cleaned. (the 60+ wasn't rolled for a while after too if any are wondering)

I am really ashamed. I have talked to Roary about it, and we both agree that the best thing I can do now is just continue with this thread even though I slipped up this one time. We have agreed that I should no longer do splits at dragon dyce since the risk of losing will always be there and I just won't be able to control myself if I go down.


So, day 42, not check. I'm also doing the update for today now, since I've already slipped up, so day 43 not check. I hope this doesn't happen again.

 

There's a reason why it's called gambling.

With every chance you take, your odds only get lower and lower in succession. Really hope you can get back on track.

Hi TTB, I too have had a gambling addiction. Ive hosted and lost bils on rs and staked bils lost bils. I had enough because I hate the feeling of going up so much and losing it all. It eats you inside out and makes u regret gambling. I am currently 2 months sober of staking/any form of gambling. I feel like a better me already. I wish you the best of luck man.

 

Everyone relapses into a habit at some point. The true test of character is digging yourself out of that hole and holding your head high. Good luck with the recovery!

It wasn't, I update tracker anytime the next day (so there can be up to 47 hours and 59 minutes between updates worst case scenario- ie 12:00am one day then 11:59pm the next day) Thanks for keeping tabs on me!

Thank you for the support! I really appreciate that you all are still with me, it's quite disheartening for me that I slipped up but hopefully I can keep pushing.

You shouldn't gamble at all to be honest, even when it's your odds. You went from gambling with your odds and losing to doubling up after losses against your odds.

Have you tried to seek professional help? I would assume it would be beneficial to talk to a therapist and/or join some sort of gambling addiction support group.

Nice to hear you aren't taking splits anymore. Even "gambling" with the odds can be addicting and trigger relapses because of how many of those "feel good" chemicals are released in the brain.

Glad to hear you're still at it and haven't thrown in the towel even after cracking for a day.

 

Hey man.. When I was 16 (last year), gambling was still in Runescape and I was gambling, ALWAYS. I didnt play RS for months, only gamble and yes I know, you always lose at the end. I lost more than 3000$ just with that...Thats a very big amount that I shouldnt have lost at 16... Anyways, the trick is to take a break of the computer. After that, just try to do something else that can profit you because obviously you wanted more cash. Thats how I got out of this addiction to gambling. I started swapping and made my way to the market. I was making money, so gambling was not necessary. Of course sometimes I miss it and each time I see, in the donor lounge, someone dicing or something... I wanna do it too but I try to think of something else and I dont bet. ATM its working and didnt bet for a year. Think of the money you lose beside thinking of the money you could make. Im sure you will be able to continue not betting! Good luck TTB
