Further Verification Tiers

I think sellers could greatly expand to more audiences and gain more trust if there were more tiers in the verification process.

I want to make this short and quick as I'm at work on a extremely slow computer..

Level 1: Phone verification. Done .
Level 2: Address verification. Send a *registered* letter in the name of the person who will be verified to a non P.O. Box.
Level 3: Identity verification. Upload a high res copy of a drivers licence or other valid identiy certificate.
Level 4: Doccument verification of proof of residency. Have any statement such as an electic statement or utility bill uploaded. Must match level 2 and 3 verification.

Each of course would have a processing fee.

Ideas?

 

Not too bad but I know some people are skeptical about releasing that much personal information over the internet. Also, fake ID's are pretty common to obtain.

 

Richard(Sythe) suggested this in the donor longue (Matthew's new donor perk thread). It is probably in development.

 

If you have nothing to hide and wish to extend your trust with your audience then I see nothing wrong with it, hope it gets added soon!

 

I would love for this to be added, I'd definitely go for at least Tier 3. I feel it'd give more of a sense of security to users who are trading with SVU knowing that there is more than just a phone number linked to their account. I hope this gets developed soon

 

Level 5: Invite an administrator round your house for dinner + prove you live there.

I would personally never give out my address on here. Obviously I would never need to as I'm not a Market user but honestly what are you going to do if you get scammed and you are given the scammers' details by Sythe? Call the police? Unless it was a scam of a massive amount you are more likely to have people ordering pizzas to scammers' houses rather than pursuing legal options.

 

Level 6, bang your mom.

And yes. If I was a camped a substantial amount then that information would provide useful in attempting to get it back. You have to remember only a very few people will actually scam at that level for anything under a grand. It would be very useful.

What about for other people who didnt live in the US, where it would cost alot more to send that letter across the world PLUS the processing fee..

 

For serious sellers, it would be a welcome upgrade to the current system which currently values users with old accounts, high post count and ranks. While the old method is somewhat useful and also a common feature in online markets, high post count is easily spoofed with spam posts and most ranks can be bought either by trade or donations.

I'm not condemning the decorative benefits of a colorful account, but tiered security on Sythe would be an attractive feature indeed.

Sythe verification is shocking. The phone I used to verify mine isn't even in my name, nor in use any more.

 

i wouldnt really feel comfortable giving out my address tbh apart from that i support this idea

 

Registered mail can be sent to any country that you can send Usps to, from what I gather. And the processing fee is self explanatory. Registerd mail just means it's maximum security with signature verification.

 

Why would this help Sythe at all?

 

I really don't see "why" it would help sythe, as it would be moot, but I could give you plenty of reasons on "how" it could help sythe. Let me know if you haven't read the thread and I'll be sure to highlight the "how"s again for you.

 

And I don't think any of your hows are useful or right or would help.
