Sythe User Status

Problem:
A problem that ALOT of users got. Mostly users doing business on Sythe. People are looking over threads to see if the person is Online or Offline.. If they are Offline, they often just go on another thread to see if a person is online. However, People are usually Online. They are simply inactive at the moment on Sythe and are waiting for an order or completing an order. Sythe puts the User offline after like 20 minutes of inactivity? I am usually Online a lot but I am waiting for orders and become inactive on Sythe at the moment so I become "Offline" when im not and my Sythe page is open. This problem gets the customers away.

My Suggestion:
No, I wont tell Sythe to change the time between Online and Offline but we can create another status. When the Sythe Page is open, the status of the user can change after a certain time to be : Inactive/Away and the color can be orange or whatever (beside their names).

This would tell others that he is Online. Just not currently active on the Forum.




Now I know what some users will tell me. Maybe someone will leave his page open there and forget about it and be gone so he isnt really "Online".

How to solve?:
There can be a limit to the "Inactive/Away" Status of like 1 hour before the Offline Status. If the user wants to be Online again, he just have to return on Sythe and do Something on the Forum to have the Online status again followed by the Away/Inactive Status for the next hour.

*Option*
There would be an option where you can turn on/off the inactivity status. When someone makes an account, it will be turned off.

Current Solution for some members:
Theres people in the business who obviously click their thread or something to be Online alot just because they want their customers to see they are..

If we dont do something like my suggestion, id like to see other suggestions to solve the problem of becoming "offline" when you really are online but inactive.

EDIT: It has been Suggested that the Online status will be 10-15 minutes and then turning to Away/Inactive at the moment. Also, the away/inactive status is only available to people who allows it in their option AND the person will have to be on Sythe by keeping it open. There will be a time limit to the status even if your webpage is open so that people cant do 24/7.

Hmm, I think that this would be a good addition to the forums.

 

Not offering an opinion on the status since I'm kind of indifferent to it but just dropping in to let you know that the offline timer is actually set at 30 minutes which is quite long.

 

I'll support this cause. It's not too big of a change, which is good, and I'm sure that sure it'll help marketers in some form of way when it comes to activity and such.

 

alright but I think it would still be a great addition to Sythe as when I decide its time for business, im not really active on Sythe but still want to be online. Im sure alot of people are like that too :/. Like Some times I add people Offline and they answer instantly via skype cause they are online. We should work on this.

Also, there's probably a way for you to set up a script that does this for you, some sort of ping-bot (assuming that's allowed).

Yes that would be better than what we have atm. 30 min "online" isnt really good. We should have 10 min online and then my idea of inactive/away and then 1h - offline. Something like that

 

I'd support this. Would help a ton if it was set around 15.

 

Actually maybe we can add a little Line near post counts where we can add a times we usually on like player auctions does e.g. Avaialable 12-3pm daily
Available 24 hrs. Yada yada yada

 

Ehh, I personally don't see the point of an "away" status. Just because you were on in the last hour doesn't mean that you are any more. 30 minutes is more than reasonable as far as I'm concerned.

I sympathize because I'm technically online and available on skype almost 24/7 (I sleep with my phone ) but that doesn't necessarily mean that I'm on sythe checking my PM, usually I only do that a few times a day.

The only thing that I could see working is setting the hours that you're usually online instead like 10am - 12pm for example but that could get pretty inaccurate I guess.


edit: thinking about it I guess I wouldn't particularly care if there was a orange status button from 30 --> hour but I don't feel like it is even really worth the time of doing for the reason stated above.

 

Away/inactive status can be activated if your looking to have it... It means your not currently checking Sythe but you might be/are online ready to talk/do business. For the PM, i dont know what you mean if that is a point against the suggestion. If your online on skype, ready to talk but not checking pm, thats exactly why my suggestion would work with you? Also, you mentionned this : "Just because you were on in the last hour doesn't mean that you are any more." Thats why you add a away/inactive status beside keeping a 30 minutes online because when you leave sythe, it will stay online for another 30 minutes... That is too much and we should do 10-15 minutes and then away/inactive. Thanks for your feedback on this suggestion and looking forward for others to comment on it aswell.

 

Everyone would just leave it on 24/7, there would be virtually no downside to doing that especially if you were a gold seller or something. Even if you aren't available that second you have a better chance of getting business if your status shows as always set to 'away' or whatever.


Even if someone PM's you and then realizes you're not actually there, that is probably better than them seeing you offline and not PM'ing you at all.


I don't personally have anything against the suggestion I'm just considering possibilities.

 

First, I get pms even if Im not on sythe automatically by email and can go on to check the PM on sythe so please stop bringing this. Also, if the person is inactive on Sythe at the moment, if they PM, they have a better chance to get a reply the someone Offline.

Your status of inactive on Sythe atm wont always be on.. it has a time limit and the Sythe Webpage have to be opened. If it is not, the Offline status goes on.

 

The online timer should just be reduced to 10 minutes.

Only thing that needs to be changed is the online timer to 10mins as Superman stated.

 

I'm definitely in favor if the timer being reduced to ten minutes, but I'm not really against or for the rest of it. I honestly don't see the need, but that's just how I see it's functionality. Perhaps having a shop changed things.

 

It's definitely a problem for anyone involved in the market, but I don't agree with the approach you're going for.
