Block multiple underlines in usernames

Recently we experienced multiple account creations with multiple underlines after / in their names.
Example:

http://www.sythe.org/members/406288-l0llyp0pst3r_______.html

http://www.sythe.org/members/406136-l0llyp0pst3r______.html

http://www.sythe.org/members/408538-___l0llyp0pst3r.html

My suggestion is to limit underlines amount in usernames to max 1 underline. For example abcname_
Every additional underline would result in unabling accounts to be registered. Those people who have in usernames more than two underlines would remain the same. It'd apply only to new accounts

Tbh, this was probably 1 guy imposting a few people, and I don't see it as that much of a big deal if people have multiple underlines.

If this problem with failed imposters imposting small goldsellers and whomever would get very very big I'd say support.
Not at this time though.

I don't think there is any reason to change the way things are unless impostoring others using multiple underlines in a name becomes a common scam method.

However, if this suggestion is approved, please make sure multiple _s are allowed, just not more than one in a row.

 

What if someone wants to use a name that's taken like plzbuymygold - plz_buy_my_gold

and they didn't want to put a - in front of the name.

 

Isn't there a character limit on usernames? I'm trying to understand what's the point you're trying to make here, but all I'm seeing is you don't want people creating extra long user names like "billy_______bob____jesus".

 

What is the purpose? I read everything in this thread, and still don't see the reason of this suggestion.

 

People are making accounts, for example, called "Sorry Im F2P________"

It seems stupid but you also have to remember, so are 90% of the members here. It's gonna get somebody eventually.

But yeah agreed, for the sake of saving a couple idiots from being scammed I think we should have this, It doesn't exactly have any negatives if it's implimented.

If you genuinely struggle to come up with a username other than _______________'s then hey lol.

So for example Username_ will go through
OP_Is_a_fgT will go through
op___is__fgt wont go through
leanbean902__ wont go through
etcetc

 

With the recent l0lly imposters, I think this would be useful preventing stuff like that, I support this

 

Underscores* and sure. Even though I'm pretty sure all these accounts are probably the same person, it's still annoying to look at.

Only ever seen it with lollypop. The impostors are picked off less than a few hours after creating the account and reports are dealt with soon after. It does not make sense to punish users who for whatever reason choose to create a username with more than one underlining in a row. If anyone falls for an impostor of that caliber, it is their fault.

 

I don't really see the point of banning multiple underscores in a row. Anyone could easily bypass this and still try to imposter.

Example:
Zuzel111_ would still be allowed

 

Why not just create all the underscore names you can think of and let them collect dust so no one else can use them? For example maybe someone whose currently being imposterd can create their name in like 20 different combinations therefore impostering will be impossible.

 

Seeing as there is no valid reason to have more than two underscores following each other, I will support.
