This is why I am wary of BTC, I feel a lot more safer with money in the bank than a virtual currency that has no physical form.

^ That. At the end of the day it's all virtual. I much prefer physical cash, even over money in my bank, I'd rather have the cash.

If you're smart about how and where you trade BTC is fairly safe. If you keep them on an offline PC there is no chance of them being stolen because they're technically just data. Unless of course someone comes and lifts that hard drive.

    change thread title to -

silk road 2 owner gains 2.7m in bitcoins and claims a hack

also, these BTC were stolen from escrow server accounts. if you keep them in a wallet, they're a lot safer.
rather than in the hands of someone else.

Silk Road 2 loses $2.7m in bitcoins in alleged hack

One does not simply stroll into silk road lol.

I Think you'd be best off avoiding it for now, essentially if you're having to ask about it then you've got no use for it nor would you know how to ;)

But yeah i'm calling BS, not like anything could be done, somebody can go and report their loss of goods, like ohhhh wait I was on a site known for it' illegal activity... Hmmmm

I read this. I think it's legit because why would silk road scam 2.7m? They can probably make that rather quickly via their marketplace.

Considering the fact that you're able to keep them offline in an encrypted usb drive in a safe...or in a bank box I wouldn't be too worried.

Just don't put it on these sketchy foreign exchanges or drug websites to hold lol.

If anything its better to store them yourself because you become a 100% reserve bank =p
