The suggestion: Remove OR Reform the 'Sythe Verified User' ranks.

Why?

To be honest, the SVU rank makes you as trusted as the people standing on the streets with their ' I have 2 kids we are starving ' signs.

This generally wouldn't be a problem, BUT:

If a new member joins sythe.org he / she may falsely deem a member 'trusted' based on these basis and end up getting scammed, etc. The system currently used to verify sythe users can be done with fake info and the sythe verified rank would definitely influence a new member to feel more trust toward a bearer of this rank.

How this could be changed:

Request info along with the PayPal which actually prove ownership of both [such as ID card / passport / Drivers License], etc.



I feel the SVU ranks are too demanding to the naked eye for the very simple procedure you have to go through, to get it.

Most people here are like 12, and i dont feel they'd be safe giving out their passport over the internet.

ALTHOUGH, it could be A level 3 SVU requirement, in which once completed thr SVU stars are red, showing level 3.

 

I'd be fine with providing some sort of identification if there were levels of SVU's. Could we do as Heeatz mentioned and have different levels of verification?

 

The svu rank is only useful for getting the person's information to contact them in case they scam or something goes wrong. It's only a $5 rank if you already made a $25 donation, so it never held any value at all tbh. Removing the rank would be silly. I don't know how revamping it would work out, and with that being said I think it's fine the way it is.

 

I'll support this. Similar to Heeatz's response, there should be levels for SVU members depending on the amount of information they provide.
For example: Level 1 SVU = Phone number ; Level 2 SVU = ID/Drivers License Photo ; Level 3 SVU = a more in-depth information of the user(can't think of one, lol).

 

I support ID verification. However saying SVU makes people look legit is same as you'd say donation ranks make people look legit, remove em. No support for that. There is currently one level of SVU verification, which means more are to-be added

 

I support the ID verification for higher levels of SVU. I like that idea to show others you truly are trusted and that you didn't just buy the SVU to scam someone.

That's what everyone thinks of a 25$ Donor with SVU. That's why I like this idea because I've been called evader and scammer so many times just because of my Donor status and what not.

I'm fine with there being different levels of verification, although I might argue that it is a waste of time. By the time different ranks are devised, extra information collected, possibly extra fees paid, and everyone informed about the new system I'd argue that its hardly worth the hassle. Personally I don't really see someone with a "level 1" SVU rank as being any more or less trusted than someone who submits a drivers license for example. I know for certain I don't want my personal ID stored on Sythe servers or on one of the admins personal computers, I just don't feel comfortable with that. Implying that a person is any more or less trusted than someone else because of how comfortable they are submitting personal information doesn't seem quite right to me.

If a scam occurred any real life consequences would be difficult to bring about anyway (online stuff especially is ignored by police often). Also after getting someones phone number, name, and address from paypal you pretty much have as much information as you need if you really want to peruse a person.

I'm all for this. The current SVU status makes newcomers think certain people are more trusted than they are, and I know for a fact that a lot of current SVU information is totally useless. Finding out that Fluffy Kitty lives in Narnia with a phone number of 1-800-6969696 really doesn't do you much good... not that SVU information is really going to help you all that much in the end anyway. Never heard of anyone using it to press charges, and it's surely not worth the hassle.

ID/personal verification works for me . Is there a way to actually make sure the ID provided is the user's own? I can pretty easily Google "Good fake ID."

I think adding seperate levels to SVU would be a good idea in the future, each one with increasing verification requirements, the color of the rank would also change scaling with each level and would be easily recognizable. I think it could be beneficial to sythe.

 

If they were to remove it i'm sure many people would want their money back. myself included

 

I support this, not only because when I joined I thought a sythe verified user was a sign that means you get refunded when scammed, before I looked into it deeper.I don't think it should be removed, I just think that it should become a MiniRank instead.Like others have said, it's easy to get around giving correct info for the SVU rank.
