Whats the point in having a main?

Always seemed kinda' boring to me. can for as long as I remember on RS made 1 defense pures or some sort of pure, never just plain old main stats. whats the appeal?

 

Personally, I always liked having a main account, because I liked having a well-rounded account, always thought that was the best way to play game to the fullest. Just my opinion!

Not to say I don't enjoy creating pures too. They're also fun!

 

Being able to unlock all of the games content. On 07, this isn't nearly as appealing, but a large portion of the 07 community is PvP based, so most of the people who are 'main' oriented are playing eoc.

 

Personally I've always set up my accounts to essentially be mains minus the defense. So I'll always have decent stats on my other skills as well as combat.

I've never seen a huge appeal to mains either honestly.

Well for me I liked the old combat style but also loved bossing, there's a reason to make a main.

 

I like a main because I just like seeing my levels go up haha

 

Mains with stats like 70 70 70 are bad. However if you train your stats higher like 90 99 80 perhaps, the account can do WAY more than just a normal pure that's only good for pking and receiving bad loots.

Well you play the game as you see fit, it would appear that you're interested in player-killing and not much else. On the other hand, other people may not be a fan of that, so defence is required to complete many of the other tasks that the game has to offer.

 

I think you can just do more content with a main. Now given there are exceptions to that like pures who PvM anyways, however it's just nowhere near as efficient.

In terms of PvP, I never really liked high DPS fights like pures. You're either constantly eating, or the other guy is.. In main fights you can go for a few hits without anything happening and is just slower paced. Of course there are always exceptions to things like that but overall I feel that's how it was...

I enjoyed Pking on a main but that's strictly preference, I also liked PvM more than PvP.

 

Well my 'main' account became a main when I accidentally received the defense experience from Monkey Madness...now I have turned my ruined pure into a boxer.

 

A main is just a type of an account as all are. Whenever I played, for years my 'main' was my skiller, because that is all that I played on.

A rounded account in my opinion is only appealing to top the rs leaderboards which I have no interest in doing.

 

I remember when I was pure mage and one day I was like f* that! I wanna do something else! So i became a main..

 

It's someone who enjoys all aspects of Runescape.

 

The reasons I've always had a main is to excel in bossing, mini-games (which is dead), deep-wild pking (which is dead) and the overall nice look of a high level player. I suppose OSRS has less benefits as opposed to EOC which seems to have a high emphasis on bossing.

 

I always made a main so I had the opportunity to go boss hunting and get teh BIG LOOTZ

 

are old school mini games still alive or nah?

 

Well if you have a lot of friends (like me) and you don't just play to gain cash/impress people it's nice to be able to do what ever you want, for example PVMing with friends. Not going to Bandos with 1 def am I.

 

Surprisingly theres people who like to do other things in games, so that should answer your question, which i find kinda strange :S
