Western Union.. Wow.

I've always considered Western Union a fairly safe method to receive money. Before messing around with Sythe, I used it a few times before. It's been about a year since I last used it.

Yesterday I sold an account for $100 via Western Union.
Whenever I arrived at the store, He gave me a phone number to call and had to speak to this guy that could just barely speak english for over 10 minutes. It was just a ton of verification questions as well as how the WU employee was doing, which was dumb- Not like I'm going to say something shitty about the guy while he's standing right in front of me.

Anyways, since when did they change all this? And why?
I'm half tempted to know if this Western Union is just shitty and I should find a different one. Whenever I was in a different state last year and recieved money all I did was walk in with my drivers license and the MTCN.

 

I've never had that experience with Western Union. I don't see how those 'verification questions' are relevant anyway. Did it ever come across your mind that it could be illegitimate?

 

It was legitimate, Was at an actual store.
Also I did receive my money as well.

 

The transaction probably got flagged for some reason. It happens. It's not a big deal.

 

It was the first time I've used WU here so I guess that is a possibility.
They ended up giving me a new MTCN, I still revived the money though.

Something else weird was that the new number they told me was only 8 digits. I believe that the old one was 10?

 

I have used WU a hand full of times, and it only happened once. I think its pretty random

 

All I done when I had to pick WU payments was providing ID + answering few questions about sender. That's all. Never got phone call

 

I receive WU almost monthly and there's never been issues with my money.

 

Hm. Maybe I just need to use a different location. I doubt they receive many WU transactions there.

I've never had a problem with them in the past, but I've only used them a few times with the last time being a year ago.

Appreciate the help. I'm just glad I won't have to do that everytime.

 

They only need the mtcn and your ID. Next time they ask for anything else ask for a supervisor.

 

I just Googled the number I had to call and it led me to the Western Union website. It seems legit, I for sure was talking to someone from WU. Still don't know why I had to call them though. I haven't in the past.

 

I had a transaction flagged once when sending money, and got a phone call. The money receiver was not very happy because it wouldn't let him pick up the money until after they called me to confirm that my WU account wasn't hacked.

 

That makes sense. It doesn't make much sense whenever the receiver has to call to verify though like I did.

 

I've never personally had this problem, and I've received WU atleast 10 times.

 

Recieved money again this morning, quite a lot more than last time.

Also had to call again. I'm fairly sure that the location I'm using is like a "verified retailer" that you see with some phone companies- just not quite the full deal and that's why I have to call.

I memorized the menu on the phone from last time, it took me 5 minutes to finish the phone call this time.

I don't think it's quite as big of a deal this time, since I know if I'm going to use that location (They are open 24/7) to go ahead and call before I leave the house.

 

Would have just been a simple verification to check something. I've never had any problems with receiving money from them, I guess the fees are some what worth it.

 

Never had to do that and I've received probably over 20 WU payments before(some as high as $5000 and as low as $300).

 

From what I know western union is one the safe ways to receive money when selling virtual goods here on sythe. Like Anthony has said the high fees they charge are worth something. I'm guessing this is a one time thing :/

 

Well if u check paypal and western union fees and security,you will realize paypal is far away from the truth
Western Union is much more secured for the seller and the fees are even better for receiving huge amount than paypal
China is paying the best fee for their services,some European country's to
But i think Australia,Canada,USA are paying to high fees for the service.
You better pay for ur security than end with waiting 6months for paypal locks requirements and stuff.
I prefer Western Union and MoneyGram more than any other payment method.

 

I'd completely agree with that as well. So many horror stories of PayPal locking/closing peoples account for such small reasons. Even me having to call WU is so much easier, as I know I can actually see the cash within minutes.

Much rather go through a little hassle and walk in public than to sit at home and lose my money.
