SytheChat suggestions

Hey,

Great job on finishing the chat. I understand it's in beta, but here are some suggestions for improvements:

• Overlay on the website like Facebook chat (has to be manually enabled by user so we don't overload server)
  Reason: I'm sure this would make SytheChat much more popular and practical.
• Add a list of all online users to the sidebar, even if you don't have them added
  Reason: Again, encouraging use. Can be removed if the list gets too large.
• Chat History, at least for donors, or to a point
  Reason: One of the most exciting things about this was that it could ultimately replace Skype for trades. History is essential to security.
• Online status of contacts
  Reason: We can see if someone's on Sythe chat on the site, but not the program itself, unless this is a bug.
• Streamline the "Conferences." Instead of having to create one, then adding people, just add directly to any conversation you're in and auto-create.
  Reason: Will encourage the use of this feature and cut down time required to middleman, etc.
• Adding/Removing Suggestions: Show a list of online friends you can add to conversations, or show people's usernames as you type them
  Reason: It's a very useful feature that's already used in parts of the site, such as the site search.

I'll go ahead and add to the list as more people suggest things, or remove them if an administrator rules it out. Hopefully the first suggestion will be taken seriously though, as I belief it's essential to the popularity of SytheChat.

 

Excellent suggestions Grave! You had a livechat on your site so Im sure you know what you are talking about and hopefully it will be possible. Quick question, how different would this be to a livechat like you had on your site.

I would definitely give donors an edge on the system, like the history thing, simply something to encourage donations.

But, Like you've said Grave, these are all really good idea's in my opinion. Perhaps you could also have different rooms too, like on IRC? Everybody is in a 'Main Room' but can also join a sub room, for example a 'LoL Room', 'Runescape Room' and what not?

Really great suggestions Grave. My big thing about the SytheChat is that its not easily accessible from the front page. I am sure that will come in time though

Sythechat as a overlay would be the best thing, I'd definitely use that. However, we do need chatlogs and history in a format that can be used as proof for trading. Support.

 

Support, i don't trust any links grave/syed have provided so would be nice if an official one could be released

 

Two small things I'd appreciate in the current version:
1. Re-enable right-click, it's annoying and pointless to disable it.
2. Make the "New Message" title alert have a disable option or one that doesn't blink.
