why do so many dodgy people exist

 

This individual is a known scammer to the PA community and one of the phisher's I warn people about on a regular basis.

He will engage users in casual conversation either to buy, and convinces them to exchange contact information, or provides his own contact info, hoping people will take the bait.

Once he has direct contact with individuals, he is able to con people off of the prying eyes of our Exchange officers, by using social engineering to procure an email address from members. Once he has this, he will send out a phishing e-mail which "appears" to be an official "PlayerAuctions" correspondence telling the seller that a buyer has made the purchase and they are to deliver to xxx.

Unwary sellers do not log into their PA account to check if it is an actual order, and end up delivering to this person who in actuality never made payment. The seller is duped into delivering the merchandise, but doesn't receive payment since the entire transaction and communication took place off our website.

Many of you who are PA users will know the REDSUBJECT emails that are in your inboxes which WARN against exchanging personal contact details with people.

This particular scammer is one reason why we have such strict communications policies which govern our platform.

Stay away from this individual.
