Inbox Increase for Users With Longevity

It's $5 for extra pm space.

If you sold someone gold wouldn't you do it via skype or PA? Regardless if someone is trusted it's too much of a hassle and takes way longer than it should to complete the trade via pm only. And even if you do, you have 500 pm space and I doubt you'd do that many trades via pm. Skype keeps the chat log for 6 months. Or as roary mentioned, screenshot them.

Sure I want more pm space, but that would only delay the inevitable where you will have to delete PMs. Looking for ones to delete is the hard part. It's manageable and big traders managed to get through a few years without it being that big of a deal we make it out to be. Not to mention the work to create a new group. Matthew said that it requires a lot of work if it were to happen for donors. Even the idea of it being exclusive to high donors was scratched off. Not that it was my idea, but if the idea was scratched off due to putting too much work for donors, I doubt it would happen for people that has been around for a long time, especially when there are people with a more recent join date that has contributed and spent more time on Sythe than others.

 

Puush has started deleting old files, too, and I personally run out of puush space just as fast as inbox space. I know we can always download messages, but I doubt they'd hold up as evidence if, say, someone opens a scam report against you.

I think OMMs should get the extra space. There are so few active ones as it is that I doubt it would make much of a difference.

 

OMM's get as much space as a Sectional Moderator, 1000.

Members - 250
Donors - 500
Sectionals/OMMs - 1k
Globals - 2k
Admins - 5k or 10k not sure
Richard - Unlimited.

 

General Administrators get 10,000 PM space. I don't know about Govind, Matthew and Richard.

 

Printscreen, paste it on paint and save the image on your computer. You can upload it if it ever comes down to it.

All admins get 10k PM space, including Richard, I was surprised lol

 

I thought the thread title said "Inbox Increase for Users With Virginity" when I scrolled past it, which seemed slightly strange at the time.

Personally I don't see this being a necessary update, but I can also see the upside for active market traders who do get heavy PM traffic. I'm on the fence, but I'd say if it was going to have a noticeable impact on the running of the site, no support. If it can be done without affecting anything, support.

 

No support for that. The majority of the people who had their account for that long became totally inactive and dont receive more pms then others. The account that was created long time ago doesnt mean trust at all so doesnt mean people will be "attracted to you" and will pm you. If there was an update in the pm space concerning something new, would be posts before "longevity". I see too much inactive people who just got back after years and i dont trust them more than others...

People that created acc long time ago should have the same as regular members if they arent donators/mods/...

 

Inbox space is allocated per usergroup. We're not going to create a bunch of usergroups for different users just to give them extra inbox space.

 

It's a good idea but use me for example, I lurk this website from time to time - Don't post that often at all. I mostly come here when I want to check prices or want to buy something, also the community is great(especially the spam forum), but I've barely even made a dent into my 500 storage space, let alone if I had 2.5k, just because I registered in '08 doesn't mean I use my inbox as much as someone who say registered at the start of this year.

That is just as worthless as downloading as text.

 

Just want to throw it out there that PMs that are saved via text or print-screened and uploaded after deletion are not valid forms of proof for scam reports (unless coming from some reputable source such as a staff member/omm, at which point the staff can assign whatever weight they feel appropriate to the evidence).

 

I definitely agree that sythe users need more PM space, especially active market members.

Maybe post count could be a factor in deciding how much PM space has.

 

Completely understandable, and if this is the case, this specific suggestion will not be implemented. (usergroups for different levels of veterans would have to be created)

Is it possible to rework the system so that post count is tied to inbox space? Or perhaps the numbers can just be increased? For example, regular members could get 500 PMs, all donors 750?

 

I'll bring it up with Sythe to see if he feels an increase across the board would be okay, but as far as tying it to post count, again that's not possible without what would likely be a lengthy change to the vb base code.

Edit: I'm mistaken about linking it to post count, Govind said it wouldn't be very difficult. I'll bring this up with Sythe though and see what he thinks.

using the existing additional usergroup would work if it were just OMM's/high donors etc, could just do it manually

 

Whats up with OMM's most of them are inactive anyway. why would they need extra pm space.

Don't see the reason for this deleting Pam's once a deal is done for none earth shattering deals doesn't seem like much of a hassle.
