Welcome everyone to October's edition of Sythe Monthly!

This month's news:

A new rule has been put in place. Sythe has made it clear that knowingly accepting stolen gold is against the rules.
The gold is returned if possible to the person from whom it was stolen, and the parties to the trade are banned accordingly.

Congratulations to Zuzel who is the newest OMM after his 3rd application was accepted. He really showed his true character prior to his hacking and repaying the numerous users who were hacked. Good on ya Marcin.

MoonGlare - MoonGlare
After a lengthy tenure as graphics moderator MoonGlare has resigned. He was planning to reboot the signature of the month (SOTM) competition prior to resigning and this has been taken up by Lvl 75 Def. It can be joined HERE.

Quatakai - Quatakai
This was the second time Quatakai had been a moderator. Hopefully you aren't gone for as long as you were after your first tenure!

Malakadang - Malakadang
This famous SFA lurker is no longer on staff. Apparently this is due to having to focus on study. Best of luck in your future endeavours.

Staff Member Questionnaire

Q1: Probably dealing with people all the time and trying to keep everyone happy. Some people think we're superhuman (which is ironic given the next question) - but at the end of the day we all have lives too. Also a lot of people like to take their misfortune out on us and tend to be aggressive and rude - it can be hard at first to just take it on the chin but you get used to it.

Q2: I used to watch this show when I was a kid called "Bernard's Watch" about a guy who could freeze time and was still able to do what he liked. I always thought it was awesome when he pranked people by moving them around and unfreezing them - not to mention I could get all this outstanding coursework in on time.


Q1: That would probably be...having to close a report for lack of proof when OP was clearly scammed.

Q2: If you possessed a super power, which one would it be?
I don't need super powers, I am already the supreme leader of my own little world.


Q1: Either dealing with assholes or when we research into a difficult scam report.

Q2: Mind control.
It's not an obvious one, so the government wouldn't get me and if they did find out, I'd mind control them to forget. I'd pretty much get what I want..


Q1: For me personally, I'd say it would be trying to keep my attitude in check. Although I've never really had a problem with anyone while on staff, there can be times when certain people can get the best of you and you have to just sit back and be the bigger person.

Q2: The ability to manipulate time (stop, slow down, reverse)


Q1: Dealing with people who thrive to create drama. We argue with them endlessly and get nowhere, but if we ignore them they accuse us of not doing our job. These events happen a few times a year and its a complete pain in the ass.

Q2: As for the second question, I choose not to answer it as I really don't see how that question relates to SYTHEmonthly haha.

Interview with Laptop65​

Q1: Starting with the basics, how did you find Sythe and what were your intentions upon joining?​

A: I initially joined for a few reasons. The main one was finding another RuneScape based community after I had resigned from the Player Moderating team on RS (I was fed up of how it was being run and the system had become that if you don't know any current P-Mods as your friend then 9/10 you would never get it). I found the whole thing stupid and unfair so I just resigned. The other reasons were mainly there were other things on the site (i.e. off topic) that interested me and I had been lurking on Sythe for a few months so I just decided to make an account. I didn't really have any goals or anything upon joining aside from just posting around and getting involved with people.

Q2: You've been around for a while now. What has kept you around all these years?​

A: I'm not really sure to be honest. I originally came in around March 2010, but didn't really start looking at the site until December 2010. I pretty much sat through the whole Finn + Spyike drama at the time as I didn't really know anyone back then. Late 2011 - Early 2012 I become a lot more active within the community and was posting around a lot more. I decided to donate $5 and get an custom avatar + signature off Kina for a few $. I suppose up until that point it was mainly just talking to people and posting about in the community that kept me here. The SF was very different back then, it was very rare to see a hate thread pop up and people just tended to fool around in a friendly manner before all "faggot" posters started to arrive. In February 2012 I was promoted to staff, had a good run and got demoted for trust reasons around 2 - 3 months later. I would expand on the rest but everyone knows the story anyway. Recently I'm not sure what's kept me around. I've had a lot of friends ----> dicks within the past year and only really talk to close friends on here now.

Q3: What did you think when you were first promoted?​

A: I thought "oh shit!". Ryan (n4n0) was essentially the reason I had gotten it in the first place. I've technically been demoted twice as there was a security issue with my staff account when I was promo'd, I won't go into details but I had partially thought it was a giant troll until Govind re-did the promotion. I enjoyed being a moderator even though I only had a short run, I don't know if I'd do it all again, though. It tends to eat up a lot of your time if you're not careful.

Q4: What are your main interests outside of Sythe? What do you enjoy doing?

A: I enjoy swimming, role-playing, gaming, reading books and most importantly sleeping I also do Go-Karting occasionally with friends.

Q5: Do you work at the moment or have any sources of income?​

A: I've just finished a temporary work placement as an office administrator. It was fun but it got boring after a few months just sitting in an office and going through paper work all day long. I do a paper round as well currently but that doesn't bring a lot of £. I may consider going on Job Seekers (basically a scheme where the UK government give you around £50 a week while you look for a job) if I don't have any luck finding a job.

Q6: Describe yourself in three words?

A: Funny, misunderstood and (uncontrollably) annoying.

Q7: What was the strangest thing that has happened to you?

A: Can't think of anything.

Q8: Alright, I'll wrap it up now. Any last words?
