Graphics on Sythe / C4D / PS6 / GIMP Questions

New question:

I'm trying to recolor some black text in ps6. I have a puush of the text copied into ps, and I'm trying to use the color replacement tool. For some reason, I can't make the text any other colors. Does anyone know how to a) remove the white background from the black text and b) make the text another color? I think it's probably just like one setting that I have wrong or something...

 

You have to render with your alpha channel separated.

We aren't going to tell you how to pirate PS.

C4D is a tool (in 2d art), not an end. PS is where the real work is done. l2ps

 

I've been rendering with alpha channel separated. Still having the same issue; can I use gimp instead of ps or not as effectively?

Also, I don't want to pirate ps. I just want to download the trial, but I'm not able to do that for some reason. Something with cc isn't working, and I don't know what the issue is.

 

Gimp is too simplified to work advanced effects, although people do manage with it.

Thanks for the (two relevant) comments . I managed to download photoshop, so I can use that now. I tried saving the file i created in c4d as a png in photoshop, but when I tried to make it my avatar, I got an invalid file error. I still don't know if the background came out transparent, but I'm sure I can find a ps tutorial for that.

 

Did you unhide your bgd layer? Only if it's a checker pattern you see then you can save transparent.

 

Yeah, I see a checked pattern, but I'm still getting a white background when I try to upload the files as avatars/signatures. I'll see if I can post a more coherent question in a few hours.

 

Yeah, I'm still having problems with this. Maybe I should try a different youtube guide, but I seem to be doing everything that they are to no avail. My avatars come out with silly white backgrounds .

 

Are they just coming up with white backgrounds on Sythe? That's a totally different problem.

You're trying to upload an image that's probably larger than 80x80 and Sythe automatically shrinks it + puts a white background even though it's a png.

Post the image here, I think that might be the problem.

render it as a psd and bring it into photoshop. or render it as a tif and make sure to check alpha channel.

Cool. Thanks a lot. I think it has to do with my oversized images, but I'll see if I can make them smaller and avoid the white backgrounds. I do think it is a problem with uploading to Sythe, though, since I can get the text with a checkered backgrounds in ps without much trouble.

 

New question. I got c4d > Sythe uploads to work for everything except avatars.
