To be frank... Fuck what the market giants think. They already get away with murder as it is.

 

It's quite unfair outside of the middleman forum, honestly - I can see why the market giants would be unpleased, and I can see why little guys like me would also be unpleased for the same reason.

Middlemanning involves trust like any other major trade here, but it does not operate in the same fashion. Middlemen obtain this great distinction through a ton of time and through a ton of work, but they also receive a ton of rewards:

An eye-catching, forum-wide rank, which no other applicable position gives;
A doubling of PM space;
A complete difference in name display on the site indexes (underline);
and the ability to easily make substantial amount of money from middleman trades, no questions asked, which no one else can do unless he or she already meets (or nearly meets) the OMM application qualifications.

While I respect OMM's and all of the work they've done, I don't believe this idea deserves support. It's an incredible achievement to be an OMM, but you also already get plenty of perks for your accomplishments.

Also, Zuzel, the fact that you just became an OMM and are only now pitching this shows the wrong kind of motive behind the suggestion. It's pretty clear that you wouldn't have backed the idea of yourself having a plain, boring thread icon next to the OMM's Dragon Sq Shield icons until you qualified for said icon yourself.

Feel free to throw some hate my way, but it's a strong "No support" from me - I can't endorse this with a clear conscience unless it only applies to threads in the Middleman Forum.

 

You have my full support people work extremely hard to become a OMM and deserve the stand out on the threads. Also will help people locate them a lot easier as well.

 

Support, however it will indeed kill the under market.

I support this idea honestly, It takes alot of patience and legitimacy to become an official middleman so they do deserve to be "known"/out of the crowd.

 

I had tons of suggestions before I became Official MIddleman I suggested a few features. I was also busy finishing my refunding process which complicated nearly every week and it was finished literally in last days of my time frame. Also this suggestion is not fully created by me. Someone else who isnt omm told me to suggest this if that makes you happier. Added credits to him in OP
Also, if donors donate, they also get exclusive rank. Mods gain exclusive rank. Admins gain exclusive rank. OMMs gain it too. You as donor gain additional thread icons, mods also have few more icons and admins have even more. So I dont think why Official Middlemen could be worse.

You're not mods or admins. Just because I respect your achievements doesn't mean I'm going to be a fanboy and lend my support to an unfair idea.

An Official Middleman is just that - a middleman. Why should you get a possible leg up on your competition in matters completely unrelated to being a middleman? You're not "Official Gold Trader Middleman," and it's not fair that you'd be able to give gold buyers that impression with a unique thread icon. You've rightfully earned the perks of being an official middleman, which are already quite substantial.

 

The problem is some people accept only OMM to middleman their trades. Adding an icon for OMMs would save some time while looking for OMM. Also this icon would be sexy for confirmation PMs with proper format so it would be like 'standing out' in someones inbox. That wont hurt anyone, just saves extra time and gives OMMs extra benefit which is really not much as its only one 16x16 pixel image.

 

If it's just available/allowed for the Middleman Forum, I'd love to see it implemented. You all have indeed earned that, and I'd offer my full support to see it there.

 

As I was editing Zuzel's MM thread title and talking to him on Skype it was just a passing thought I figured might be worth mentioning. It'll make it easier for normal members to identify OMM's as well, a wall of thread titles can be a bitch to look through. I like example 1. The plain ones appear a bit dull next to thread titles, a small bit of colour makes them pop.

Middlemen are an additional usergroup, just like donors, CDT etc. It'd actually be very simple to have it appear just for middlemen and the head middleman. The option is actually already there, just there isn't an icon.

 

Your logic is flawed. There are a multitude of thread icons, obtained through different means. How is having a DSq icon for OMM's any different than having a ribbon for mods? Mods aren't "Official Gold Trader Mods", and why do SVU's get exclusive interlocking green Arrows? They're not "Official Gold Trader SVU's".

In no shape, form, or fashion would a Dragon sq thread icon imply that one is a "Official Gold Trader Middleman", it simply denotes that an OMM made the topic much like a Red Ribbon implies a moderator made that topic.
