Inbox Increase for Users With Longevity

I know there are various ways to increase your inbox space (donating, being a moderator, and maybe some more since I've been gone?), but could we implement a inbox increase for users that have been on this site 3-5+ years and OMMs?

I'd say just increase it to the same as sectionals (5k), or perhaps half (2.5k.)

If it puts too much stress on the server/is a pain to implement/or anything along those lines, I'd say scrape it, but it would be a nice little perk.

Edit: Had changed from users to longevity to OMMs, but why not both.

I think the longevity aspect shouldn't be allowed, because someone could have made an account, forgot about it for years, then just recently came back to have a bigger inbox compared to an already active member, who may actually need it more.

However, OMM's should most definitely have a larger PM box. I'm sure they get tons of PMs for MM requests, verification that it's them, etc. There's a limited amount of OMM's as well, so I don't believe it'd put any or much stress on the servers.

I believe OMM's already get a PM space boost.

Normal users - 250

Donators - 500

Sectionals + OMMs - 1000

Globals - 2000

General Administrators - 10,000

Tech admins + Richard - Higher, most likely unlimited.

I think 1000 is fine for OMMs already, unless a change has happened since I last knew the PM limits.

 

I think ex-mods should get more PM space, IT IS FUCKING ANNOYING AS SHIT HAVING TO DELETE PMS TO RECEIVE MORE.

Oh my god if sectionals get 5,000 messages now I'd like to be demoted.

Globals get 2,000 right now and sectionals get 1,000 as far as I know. I thought OMMs got 1,000 too. If not, I'll pitch it to someone soon

 

Yeah I'm on 1000. Can't complain about it but more is always better.

Wouldn't giving users with longevity a bigger inbox require making a new user group for them? I don't really see it as being worth the time.

 

Not really, just edit the existing usergroup.

OT: I support this. There should either be some way to save your PMs that would serve as sufficient proof or a substantial increase in PM space. I'm constantly hovering near the limit because I need to save a ton of PMs in case I ever need them as proof in the future.

 

I wouldn't mind it being raised. I wish I had 5k pm space, I struggle with the 2k.

Everyone of course wants more PM space, but the fact its been a perk for donating for jesus knows how long would kinda just insult everyone that had ever donated $100 for that same perk.

 

I support this section as well being around for a long time and showing loyalty to the site private message space is a small way of saying thank you.

 

Don't think it's gonna happen due to technical difficulties and several similar suggestions getting denied. but support anyway.

 

let's say, you only 500 Messages and someone who's trusted bought your gold from a long time ago and 2 months later he's opening a dispute but since you have to delete your messages you might not have the proof anymore that he PM'd you and he/she might get banned

I definitely think there should be a better way to save PM's, which would then mean your PM space wouldn't be so prized.

 

I'm going to support, although I don't understand the potential impacts it could have on servers, I do struggle to see how it could do too much damage. When you're an established market trader or you've been a member of the community for a while you end up getting a load of PM's. A large chunk of PM's in my inbox I feel I need to keep for reasons of proof if an issue arises in the future, and I hate having to delete PM's I only just got a day or two earlier as well just so I can get more.

 

Purely because it could make a huge difference to the speed of the site via storage on servers, I'm going to say no support. It would be nice, yes, but I just clear mine every month and never have any problems, not many people will get more than 15 PM's a day and need to empty it constantly.

 

If there's PM's you need for proofs just screenshot them and keep them in your Puush gallery or something
