is rs still popular?

I'm just curious given all the updates and such...
I wanted to get back into it cause I have a load of free time all of a sudden but now I'm not so sure haha

anyways guess I'll give the new rs 3 a go before I go in and buy a decent account.

Well, There still is a pretty big issue about botting.. They got rid of gambling but I still have a dicing shop so.... Yeah... I enjoy both revisions of Runescape

 

What do you mean by popular?

Playing and knowing about the game is different. I'll tell you this though, THE GAME IS DEAD.

Members worlds are EMPTY, no social interaction unless you go to the most populated worlds which barely reach 1k players and even still most places you'd expect to be full/packed are empty too.

I guess empty resources are cool, but they get boring when you have no one to talk/interact with.

 

Runescape is still fairly popular but not as popular as it used to be, I only joined Runescape 8 months ago and the population still seems about the same, although I was never that into the social side, events and content wise it's very popular.

 

It is still popular to an extent, although nothing compared to 2004 - 2007. I'd consider WoW or another MMO other than RS, I personally don't like it anymore.

 

Who cares if it's popular or not? That is no reason to play a game.

Play it because you enjoy it, otherwise log out.

 

To some a game being popular adds to the enjoyment. Social interactions add another side to a game.

I can't image ever playing Runescape without other players / no social interaction at all.

Maybe the quests would be OK, and solo PVM, but the rest would suck!

 

My suggestion is to find a clan and do stuff with them. Without my clan it would be tough to have 0 social interactions and still stick with the game...

 

It depends on what you mean by popular. Compared to 2005-07 standards when I began no way, numbers are a lot lower and there's a lot of bots on the servers. There is still a dedicated community and there probably always will be, but it will be very different to what you're used to.

 

That is a good point actually, I have been cutting ivy, but it is no fun when I am alone.

My clan help a bit, but to be honest I do think I need to meet more people in rs.

 

It's actually dead.... It's so dead even I can't play anymore, everyone i ever knew (many friend lists, full of people) all gone, quit, left...
All the rare name ccs / FC's in general I used to see full of people are dead, and i mean every single one. Also, I see under 300 people on most worlds, so yeah... it wasn't like that 3 years ago! back in 2011 W1 & 2 were often full. Not anymore lol

 

I still find a few people to play with at times. Pretty fun still imo

 

The playerbase has declined nearly 80% in the past 2 years. If you consider that popular....

 

Rs3 is garbage it has 35k people a day eventually its gonna go down the tubes where theyre heading..... the only thing is OSRS its worth it

 

Pking is still very active if you consider the downfall it had when removing wildy etc.
