What would YOU like to see in this section?

Ever since I became a moderator I've wanted to create the best user experience in the graphics section and to leave a mark so that one day maybe I'll be remembered for something I'll get to the point. I've tried many things for you all since then such as giveaways. Then after that failed Zippy and I teamed up and put up a little fun graphic activity. That also got close to no participation. Now I'm asking the question what would you guys like to see so that you participate in things. In other words what would pull you deeper into the gfx section that you would like to participate in?

I would take part in sig of the week/month.
Never really done it before, but i'd like to give it a go

Forgot to mention, don't give out money prizes.
It only encourages greediness and it will be an unsociable experience; it should be fun.

Make it like BGlave said, maybe a rank or minirank.

Could be 2 weeks instead of one

That would be fun, instead of giving out money as a prize, give out a rank showing you won. They also get to pick the next theme?

Make the rank art themed similar to yours.

How it would work?

Well once that person wins, you give them the rank until the next person wins. Maybe add a Hall of Artists, listing who won each week/month.

You could switch up the prize if you'd like.

Edit: You would be able to give out that rank to members.

 

I think the reason that not many people is active in these kind of competition is that we intimidate them with our graphic experience. For example, someone who would like to enter a contest about doing a signature but sees moonglare with his years of experience already in this contest... He is like : oh nvm.

Idk if you know what I mean but I guess we should do sometimes some contests *not for us* but for others without necessary experience in graphics. This maybe would bring some new faces here in the section of Sythe and maybe we will find some people who will be more interested in graphics.

For us now, I like the idea of Ayy. I dont really care what contest it is tbh just give me a graphic one

 

I agree with the first part which is why I believe all contestants should be kept private in Moonglares PM then the all of the contestants are given a number via PM which they should keep secret.

Then moonglare posts all of the sigs or whatever the contest is, people vote and then the winner takes the prize.

 

Contests/competitions have always come up, but we never get the outcome we hope for. We need people actually willing to part take in these events. Ranks are out of the question, but a mini rank could possibly be rewarded to the winner for the duration of how long the event will last. As far as participation goes, I realize the less experienced artists aren't going to want to spend there time entering when they see artists with years of experience entering. I was thinking first place could get the mini rank and 2nd + 3rd place receives a small cash prize. This would hopefully provide incentive for them to join.

Edit: as far as content goes making a bi-weekly maybe monthly contest to do with criteria artists on Sythe all have in common. For instance having an event where every time you'd change up the theme to signatures for example then next time make it YouTube banners etc stuff that all artists here are familiar with, so that you can maximize participation.

 

Partially because the graphics forum is all the way at the bottom of the site. After coming back over a year, it actually took me awhile to find. Advertising the contests isn't a bad idea either. Just by putting it in your sig isn't a bad idea, I'd do it too.

I think there shouldn't be any prizes for 2nd and 3rd place because there probably won't be much people participating anyways and a cash prize sounds better than first place getting a mini-rank.

Maybe mention a real rank saying something like "SOTW/SOTM Winner" to upper staff or richard so they can add it. For the minirank, add one for "GFX participant" for those who actually participate in the contest.

As for the "experience vs less experience", that shouldn't matter. There are many different styles that may come off better as others. That should boost their willingness to be up to part.

Simple changes can make big outcomes.

 

I don't think upper staff would consider adding in an actual fun rank for a dead sub section. With that being said your participation mini rank doesn't sound like a bad idea. Offering that plus a cash incentive for first place would hopefully bring in participation amongst the artists here.

I know skill level shouldn't matter, but trying telling people here that. Contests are usually judged by voting and the community has a different perspective on "skill". It shouldn't matter but artists are going to take that into consideration y'know?

 

A mini rank would probably work. I will be hosting a competition soon.

It should either be bi-weekly or monthly competitions so as to not overwhelm people and to get more participation. Having them too often and people would lose interest/not have enough time to get around to doing their composition.

As for rewards: Just an idea but have a unique mini-rank for the winner and it will last for a certain amount of time e.g. if it is a bi-weekly competition have it so that the mini-rank will last a month or so? If it only lasts 2 weeks I don't know if people would bother getting it.

Submissions should be PM'd to MoonGlare and the people who have submitted could just post on the thread saying submitted. However, for the first time on sythe, this anonymous voting should be enforced. If anyone is caught telling others which one is theirs - they should be disqualified from that one event and receive an infraction for cheating in games.
