I believe they take you to court.

 

That's very inefficient of them. The US would just take it out of your tax refund or something.

Wouldn't you still be subject to the government's laws which have control over your land though?

that is ridiculous, pay 20$ if you do not vote. what if there are 2 seperate party you don't even want to vote because you find them 'useless' or any kind of reason you're denying to vote x.x

 

Pretty sure you can't fight this one Rich, considering we live in a forced democracy where everyone has a right to vote but no one has a right not to vote. Although IDE love to see you set some new precedent considering I walked in scribbled an "all you cunts are shit" on both ballot papers and walked out

 

What would constitute a "valid reason" for not voting, is what interests me. My assumption would be due to a physical inability to cast the vote, rather than a personal/moral/political reason for refusing to do so?

Having said that, there must be hundreds if not thousands who refuse to vote based on their beliefs.

 

They in fact do the same in Belgium, but in place of 20$ you have to pay about 300$.
Although they barely ever sue or charge somebody for this.

I don't know if anyone else asked this already, but what's the deal with that internet? If the ISP can't reach out and hook you up with cable, does that mean you've got some kind of satellite/cell hotspot dealy going on?

 

I'm interested to know, how have you found the transition to your current way of living?
