If there is already a thread about this I apologize, and again I apologize if I should be posting this elsewhere but three times in the past few weeks I've been asked about skype safety and I can say 99.9% that this method works.

For those who have a skype already, bad news for you, you're going to have to give it the ditch because a normal skype is extremely unsafe as the skype support are a bunch of coconut brains.

Go to (www.hotmail.com or www.live.com)

When you get to this stage it's best to make up as many details as you can, but make sure you remember them as it's going to be tough if you ever lose your account due to password, moving etc..

The thing in red will be your skype name, I own the email ([email protected]) hence my skype being (Liveurfect_2) so when I create ([email protected]) I am now creating (Live:Chloecat.Sythe)

Now this is VERY important.

Here you have the chance to add a security question, but I personally wouldn't, I would create another email and link it to this email and make it an email no one will ever guess, not in a million years, and also add your REAL phone number! But also make sure nobody knows about it.
You can however add a security question but make sure no one would ever guess it and it has numbers in it, as hackers can just sit there and guess the obvious and bingo, into your skype they come.

Now you've created your new email/skype, open up your skype and click here:

Now sign in with your new email.

You DO NOT want to merge your account with your old skype as your old skype could still be recovered and your new one taken with it, making it completely useless.

This here will be your skype email + Skype normal contact details, if you make a (Live.co.uk) your skype may end up with a (_2) on the end or another number due to hotmail.com being the original.

Another safe thing you need to do is:

Press Show full profile.

Where it says "contacts" click on them and make them PRIVATE. Do not set a date of birth or any information like that, leave your skype COMPLETELY anonymous. Also change your skype name here:

As it gives away your full name to your email address.

As you can see if you ever lose it, you'll need another contact email address and that's where your second hotmail comes in handy:

The recovery is MUCH harder than skype, I can't even recover some of my own accounts and I know every single bit of information, they are extremely tight about giving accounts back. You can keep yourself extra safe by changing your password a few times and what not.

Well I hope I helped some people!
Again sorry if this is the wrong place or someone has already created a guide.
