Oldschool Rs already dying down?

i didnt immediately know that old school had come out. i had quite before eoc bullshit came along. i was about 2 weeks late to the party. however ive noticed some big changes already. i played for a month and quite. Just returned 2 weeks ago and i already notice theres half the players. Guess nostalgia didnt last...

 

Ya its definitely dying. Hopefully it can be revived!

 

Eh it's not dying, it's hovered around the same amount of players for a few months. You figure it's like any new game, when something new is released usually that's when it has the most players, than over time some people quit and others stay.

 

I only played for a couple of weeks total, could never really get into it again. I have a friend who plays it, and he says he doesn't like all the changes they're making to it. Changes is what brought original RS to where it is now... Shit.

 

I like the changes that are being made, I planned on quitting up until they announced GWD. I was even fine with RuneScape like 2011 or so but I know it's not for everyone. I hope GWD will bring some more players.

 

i mean im fine with gwd and im fine with rares being re introduced. However i wish theyd make gwd full what it was and they would discontinue the rares after first drop.

and keep the god damn g.e away and fuck pvp worlds i actually liked the bh bounty system back in the day. chasing targs ect.

 

In every game the population does down after a few weeks. Look at any MMO. In my optional while you're discussing the G.E I never thought it was that great until i started playing 07 and it wasn't in it. Nothing like wasting my time for an hour trying to sell feathers when i first started...

It's not dying, player count has been the same for months.

 

I think GWD and PvP coming out will cause a huge increase in numbers. I hope it does TBH, I like it a lot more than RS3

 

Ofc it's dying lol, they should've made pre-eoc servers...

 

So, when it was first released, of course the player base was going to be EXTREMELY high, considering the amount of returning players seeking some nostalgia; for some, it didn't last! But the only problem with 07 scape, let's face it, it's never going to attract NEW members, young people these days are going straight for RS3 - they won't even try out 07scape, and if they did they wouldn't think twice about what game they're going to play.

The only ones keeping 07 alive, are the old school players who are still around, it will never attract a new audience.

 

tbh as much as they tried to make it back to 07 its not. Every1 has epic accounts now, everyone bots. Mils arnt shit to what they used to be. I honestly want to see all of the bots gone and old fashion work invested. As for new members im glad there not in 07 personally. 10k players is alot lower then i imagined at first i figured it would hold twice that much at all times.

 

Personally I'm disappointed in a way. I'm glad they're bringing in updates, and I'm glad they're trying to work towards pre-EOC, sort of. But I don't get why they have to change the updates. GWD, for example. Why can't they just bring it back as it was when first released (except for bug fixes, obviously).

The server is called oldschool and that's how it should be, it shouldn't be tweaked and changed and messed around with. Just add the basics, GWD, PvP worlds, Clan Wars, etc. But don't try and make it a different game to how it was.


But yeah, that's just my opinion.

 

Well... I would've preferred this is well, and I am sure a ton of people would have. However they said the only servers they had were the 2007 servers and EoC. So if it was EoC or 2007, even though I prefer like 2011, I would take 2007 over EoC any day. I wouldn't mind us even updating closer to 2011 but I'm sure the poll's wont pass for things like that.

 

Yeah, I agree. I see all this shit about "GW2" - now, assuming that's God Wars 2, it must be different, or else they'd just call it God Wars. There's no need to change it. People liked it the way it was, and they brought RS07 back for people to play the game as it was.

This is why I refused to indulge myself in RS07. I knew something like this would happen. I didn't want the same outcome that happened with EoC.

 

I personally think that they need to do it the way their doing it, to keep the combat triangle as balanced as possible.

 

Game is dying because it's not free and like you said nostalgia doesn't last forever. Why pay when you can hop on a private server and do the same stuff?

 

I really could not be bothered to play it at all, I never wanted really bad graphics, my personal fav time of rs is 2011-2012

If you are comparing OSRS now compared to the day of release, of course it isn't as much. Roughly 1/2 of players online were on 07, and at the moment its about 1/3. However, compare this to the EoC beta. The first day it was released, there were tens of thousands of players online, they had to quadruple the amount of servers they had on the project that day. After a month, they had less than 100 people playing on the eoc beta total.

So, 6 months after 07 came out, 60% of players were retained, compared to EoC beta where 1 month after it came out .1% of players were retained.
