Gaming Section Rework

It makes perfect sense, you post in the section you've bought the game in.

The only way it wouldn't work would be if games could be cross console played which they can't.

 

That's not the point. There will be Call of Duty posts in 3 different sections, when they could be discussed in one.

 

This. The games are exactly the same 99% of the time. Dividing the small amount of activity for discussion will just kill all the sections.

 

That would be logical if call of duty was active here, which it isn't.

 

It was an example of a game that has been released on multiple platforms.

Where am I going to go if I want to discuss the Sega Megadrive? (another example of something that won't fit into a Xbox, Playstation or PC section)

 

I would go with "other gaming" to answer that question.

Anything aside from RuneScape, LoL and a little bit of WoW, here, can be condensed into the four sections above.

 

I specifically mentioned it because back in the days when we had the console / PC sections, it was being discussed in both sections instead of just one. You can not dismiss my example because it isn't talked about. My example is 99% of games. Should we just not care about any game that isn't currently discussed? The whole point of restructuring it to try to make the section active, aka: make new things get discussed. It didn't work then and it won't work now. Nuke the thing already.

 

I can't tell if the organization of the other games section is the reason for the lack of participation or something else. I've always been a big supporter of changing the format of the section, but I doubt this will get much support.

I'd have to agree with the posts regarding the newest generation consoles adding support. The new Xbox One and PS4 should bring some interest to the section, maybe displaying the console discussion threads a bit more would encourage more participation.

 

You can't make a section active if it isn't already. Why would you want a section for each individual game with 2-4 threads max? Not only does it look bare and ridiculous, it wastes space.

"Ps - Xbox - PC - other" if what you're playing doesn't apply to those you've got no business posting.

Trying to make something active by giving it a section of it's own is stupid (with the exception of wow, rs and lol - for obvious reasons).

Other games discussion

• LoL
• Livestream & Media
• PC Gaming
• Console Gaming
  >>Xbox Discussion
  >>Playstation Discussion
  >>Handheld Gaming
• Other games
  >>Viral Game Discussion (Multi platform games)

Almost every game in existence will fit into multiple of those categories. That leads to FRAGMENTATION of threads and activity which ultimately drives DOWN activity.

 

Essentially, yes you did? The both of you consistently replying with a different game after i gave a solution for the other.

I understand what you're worried about (now) but there's no perfect way to restructure this. Either way, it's going to be more work for mods or less activity.

Y'know, SuF's feelings on the situation may be the best route.

One thing that is harming the current format is how deep you need to dig for some sections. They'd need front page presence to fully kick into top gear rather than sit in neutral like they are at the moment.

That's not a bad idea, actually. With the lack of activity having everything condensed into one section wouldn't be a terrible thing. If it did escalate it would be a pain to keep track of threads but still easily accomplishable.

 

Bumping this, would like to see something done with the section.
