Skype proof, is it really that reliable?

I'm not too sure if this has been brought up before.

I'm sure we all know the format needed when posting a Sythe scam report; what's required, proof is required, etc.

What I would like people to know is how easy it is to FAKE skype proofs, for example:
Here we have N4n0 impostering Nytrix.




I whipped that bad boy up in less than 3 minutes using paint. So truly anyone can do this, correct?

My question is, how reliable is the Skype proof system? Yes 9 times out of 10 the scammer in question (with sufficient proof) is actually the true person. But if someone really tried hard enough to get an individual banned, I'm sure they could easier frame someone.

If it came down to it, I guess someone with authority would just have to access one of said skype accounts to see who's lying and who's not. Any form of evidence can be faked, whether it have been MSN, Skype, PM's, AIM etc etc.

 

Also, people can look at another conversation, and click up the information of another person making it look like their profile.



If someone was smart enough they could set up a scam doing that making the other person get banned.

It seems fairly easy to do. I prefer viewing the skype chat for myself before I make a decision. Just like in Adam's case, proof was heavily edited.

I just think we need to be a tad stricter on evidence allowed and double check the legitimacy of said proof.

If we ban said user and it's a framed report, generally the banned user will dispute or contact a member of staff with their counter-claim. From there we can screenshare with one or both of them to piece together what happened. It doesn't happen often.

 

Obviously if it came down to it a mod could teamview the persons skype.

The main purpose of the screenshot isn't necessarily for conclusive proof but rather for the staff to quickly tell the user if they were talking to an impostor or not.

 

I guess you have a point there, I wouldn't think it happens often. Or at lest I

well it just happened to me but moderators helped me out really fast, so i don't think this is a problem. It might be problem if the victim cant proove it because it was on other computer or something. One of my scamm reports was from a guy who i talked to 6 days ago, if i used a public computer and wouldnt have the talks, i would be banned by now

 

Not really, they would probably be required to show proof from their computer in that case(something like have a mod TV them) if you were insistent enough that the information was fake.

 

Mods will investigate if something doesn't add up, such as screensharing the information so it cannot be faked.

 

If they're on skype... why don't you have them PM you?.... there's proof right there...

 

I think that to prevent proof like this from showing up, we should require the contacts/history to be shown in the picture.

This is so avoidable it's not even funny, if someone had done this, you can almost certainly prove otherwise if you follow the format that Superman gave on that one thread, if someone has no life and does frame you, you can teamview/screenshare your Skype as proof of your innocence.

 

Frames can always happen regardless of the IM system used. This is not unique to skype.

 

If the proof is fake, then the person who got banned can dispute it and show what really happened.

 

This thread is so useless... what is the point of this thread? Everything virtual can obviously be faked, even video if you try hard enough. ANYONE who was wrongly banned and cares to be back on Sythe will dispute the ban saying it was fake and proving otherwise. It isn't enough of an issue for this thread.

You asked how reliable it is. It is quite reliable. Both of the conversations would have to match, etc. etc. If one of them says he lost his conversation logs, then that's a red flag... bla bla. It works, and it is better than nothing / not including Skype proof. I'd say the hit rate is higher than 90% as you claim, but of course that number isn't based on any facts.

Mistakes happen... staff can be fooled by fake evidence. It shouldn't be a big deal (unless you're a certain gold seller who thinks his presence is a godsend to BA. See how much I care).

 

I support that this should me watched for but for such a small chance of it happening I can't see it a very good use a sythe staffs time. However it should defiantly be watched for when people are appealing there ban

I notice AdamsGoldShop and I want to post here aswell, a good friend of my has been close to ban! this is outraging!

I can do this with more amazing software called Photoshop but paint can basically do the same thing but it less quality

Could we please have screenshots of each trade, even if this doesn't go through because innocent people will be banned due to this.

SUPPORT FOR CUSTOM SYTHE CHAT!, where we all can trade with our own groups (passwords) and we can create chat logs with a click of button in the corner! with custom file so they can't be edited!
