Legacy Donor Ranks

I can't support this, simply because legacy ranks means you supported Sythe.org in a time where donations were rarer, and 300+ donors didn't really exist.

I agree with this.

As a new donor, i don't mind the current ranks.

If i would have been around during the time that legacy ranks were delivered for donating and didn't donate, i would have simply missed out. Taking newer donors and giving them old ranks is a bit unfair to the users who donated whenever they did to earn the rank.

No support. I think they should stay as is, as they show a certain prestige in the forum for being active such a long time.

I support but I firmly believe it should be 2 years since donating. Because otherwise everyone who is a 2 year old member will be having them.

I support this. When Verts changed them, fuck I hated that new whip $5 donor logo. It's so tacky and ugly, but it also made a lot more sense. Whoever decided to make the $5 Donator logo a guthix armor set was fucking awesome, but I just don't understand the thinking behind it, unless the plan was to have zammy for $25 and sara for $50? idk lol

Verts didn't change them. She simply provided the new images...

Here's the history on this... Originally, the donation system only accepted donations in RuneScape GP. So, the levels and credit amounts were all in RS GP, including the rank images. As time went on, we began to accept Cash by Mail, PayPal, and some other methods. This meant we couldn't use RS GP for the levels anymore since it would require a lot of weird currency conversions.

When USD-based donations picked up, I rewrote the donation systems to use USD instead of RS GP. This meant all donations, including those made using RS GP, were recorded in their USD equivalent. So, all of the levels and ranks were redone to use the new USD information. This change made our lives a million times easier because all donations were ultimately in the same currency which is also Sythe.org's primary currency for business purposes.

For anyone wondering, this is also why you see bond holders posting conversion rates for their services. If they take RS GP from you, they have to log that donation in the system in USD. So, they have to offer you an exchange rate.

Unfortunately, given the history of donations and why the change was implemented, we're not going to be changing who is eligible for these ranks. These ranks signify that a user was around during the original era of donations and that they were generous enough to support Sythe.org all those years ago.

Sorry to disappoint but I hope the context at least helps explain things..

Legacy donation ranks are only available to users who donated before July 1, 2010. If your oldest donation is AFTER this date, you are not eligible for legacy ranks. If you are eligible for legacy ranks, they will appear in the Perk Manager under the Rank Selector.
