No money for 2 weeks!

Hi, i'm starting my job on monday but i won't be getting paid untill 2 weeks, i have -£10 in my bank as i forgot to tell housing that i needed that money to live off until i got paid, now i have no money for food or even a drink, and i wont be able to pay for my electric when it runs out,

Crisis loans are no-more, what can i do?!

 

How many hours do you work? Got enough time in the day to take another 30 minutes - 1 hour to make 5+ bucks to eat on?

I don't know if you prefer to "eat healthy" or not, but it sounds like fast food is going to be your friend.

I'm used to not having money, so I'm used to eating once a day. Go to mcdonalds and find the dollar menu. Spend 5 dollars MAX a day on food/drink at mcdonalds.

As for how to make that money? Mow yards. Don't have a lawn mower? I'm sure one of your friends do. When I was offering a lawn service I averaged at $50 a week, but I also didn't go looking for work, I threw some business cards at caseys and let people come to me.

Take the lawn mower, walk around town, any grass you see thats tall enough to be mowed, go knocking on doors. The first few are going to be rough, but make sure you pay attention and get used to how much gas it takes out of your mower to determine what you should charge. If you don't mind no electricity for 2 weeks, then charge the price of gas +5 dollars. Then you'll only have to mow 1 yard a day and you'll have food and drink to fill you.

I'm not sure about where you live, but where I live, they give you an entire month after the electricity bill is due before they shut it off, so unless your bill was due 2 weeks ago, 2 more weeks shouldn't hurt you.

 

The weathers terrible up here so i can't, i have no friends or relatives who live even close enough to ask for money, I have an electric metre, when the money i put in that runs out, i have no electric left.

I have no food, and no money to even buy food!

 

Hey, worse comes to worse, sit outside a church with a tincan and your oldest, dirtiest clothes and ask for change... I still have no clue where you live, but I've read reports that homeless people in NYC or LA make more than my mother does in a year, and she gets almost $600/week

If your like me and live in a hick town where there is literally no one at all walking down the street on a daily basis, then this obviously won't work...

When I was younger (about 16) I got kicked out of my house for a week, I had no cash and I'd have to walk over 7 miles just to get to mcdonalds if I did have a couple bucks for a mcChicken. I found that in the high traffic areas, such as caseys general store/gas station and other places that sell food on the side you can almost always find food in a dumpster. I ate better when I was homeless than I do eating 1 meal a day now.

I'm not saying to go through dumpsters and find half-eaten food and chomp it down. A lot of places like caseys have an open dumpster than they keep some what clean. Every day at noon they throw out a box(s) of a dozen donuts at noon. They are usually 2 days old (they sell them 1 day, sell them for a discount as day olds 1 day, then throw them out around noon the 3rd day) but they're in a box, so their clean and its food.

You could go door to door and offer to clean too, I mean A LOT of people wish their houses were cleaner, and spending an hour or 2 in someones living room, in the AC, possibly getting free food/drink while cleaning might even get you enough cash to make your elec. meter last you until your paycheck.

I'm not really sure what else I could suggest, but if I think of anything I'll be back to edit this again.

 

Do you have anything you would be willing to part with? For example to sell at a pawn shop or something of that nature? If so take it down there and see what you're able to get for it? Also what about relatives? Do you have any that maybe able or willing to help you if you were willing to pay them back?

 

Well since your able to get on the internet, why not make some runescape cash or something or do runescape training for irl cash, or whatever game you play?

 

@youcantseeme; I'd have to make £10 + Extra for food, as my banks in -Minus £10, so i don't see how i'm going to be able to do that :/

Try to sell anything that you don't want.
Cut down your expenses to minimum.
I don't know what kind of a job you do, but try to look for another job that will pay in a week.
Do illegal stuffs.

 

You need to find a friend/relative that you are close with. If there isn't any that come into mind, THINK! There has to be someone that you are cool with, that wouldn't mind pitching in a few dollars just to get you by - Just make sure to repaid your debts. Hopefully in 17 days, this will all get better. Ehh I guess the knock on door to door thing might be your best shot if you don't have anyone you can ask for help.

Try and look somewhat decent, else people won't want to let you inside their homes. Maybe try cleaning as was mentioned, gardening, hell anything that you can think of. If not maybe really try going to the local church and explain your situation, they might be able to help you at least by giving you a piece of bread every day.

Also, have you thought/is it possible maybe to ask for your paycheck in advance? Some places do this, maybe you can ask them to pay you in advance the next 2 weeks since you are on a very tight spot.

Completely depends on your employer. Go and send him an email or give him a phone call or something and ask.

 

Yeah I mean, even if you aren't on a fixed contract, i'm guessing there's a minimum of hours they're expecting you to work in this 2 weeks. Maybe you can ask them to give you in advance, lets say 30 hours for just the first week, and if you end up doing 40 hours instead, on the second week they can pay you whatever you work that week + those 10 extra hours you clocked in the first week. Just come up with the plain truth, don't even bother to lie. Tell them you are very fucked and you won't be able to eat, i'm sure they will help you out at least a bit.

 

Don't you have a bank account you can ask them to deposit the money in to? Also what about a paypal account - Do you have one that's attached with your bank account/credit card on it?

In Australia we have a thing called salvation Army they're a charity that gives to people w/o a home and food and they donate food cards, and other items, do you have one of those where you live? I live in a pretty empty town and even we have one, never used them myself so not 100% sure on the terms of it, but I know it's free and they don't ask for anything in return.

 

It should be easy for you to make a little bit of cash on Runescape, or even RS07. Or even you could ask a close family member or friend to borrow a little money until your first paycheck arrives.

In all honesty, I wouldn't be asking for pay in advance when you just started a new job. It makes you look like you don't have your priorities sorted out. I would scout out other options, perhaps get a SMALL short term loan from a company? Aviva loans perhaps? (my bf suggested that lol) I'm sure it can't be a complete dead end.

 

Try some small jobs on the side. Maybe go around and ask if anyone needs help doing some handy work. This is what I did when I first graduated high school an it paid off my old motorcycle.

 

In my town we have a food bank I believe there in a lot of towns , there for poor/low income families and help provide groceries for free.

 

Well I know this feeling, but honestly I'd try apply for assistance for food and such. At least here they do that.

 

Also what about trying to go around where you live currently and asking to do yard work or things of that nature? Because if you're as desperate as you claim then you should have no issues doing this because anyone would to eat and keep things going for a few weeks.
