    Should I call the police?

Without reading through other comments I think you should definitely notify some authorities. When I was living back in Australia we had something similar happen. People would mark fences and go back and steal animals. Hundreds of animals went missing, both cats and dogs. They where using cats as bait for dog fighting... There where also traps for pets at play grounds in local areas where they would leave poisoned foods around. I'm not trying to scare you but I would say you have something to worry about. Called the police and let them know everything, and if you do see the car again maybe get their registration number (number plate number). There are some sick people in the world and your one statement could lead to saving the life of other animals.

    Should I call the police?

That is what I was mentioning in my previous post. I wouldn't rule it out as a complete hoax though, I had friends and family who had pets go missing around this time. Yes maybe a coincidence but even if it was someone who was pranking him, they have a sick mind.

    Should I call the police?

I'm still waiting for some updates myself. My mother called the authorities who asked her to come in and write a suspicious person report. We did all this and now we're in the middle of setting up better motion detector lights around the back yard and we just replaced the door locks on both back and front entrances.

The markings are still there though on the fence my mom doesn't want to scratch them off and does not want to paint over them so we're thinking of a way to get rid of them. We also had to repair the garage light. Nothing scary has happened though yet. I'm thinking of fake security cameras around the house just to add some extra protection maybe if they see we have cameras they'll leave us alone.

I would put up a sign saying that your yard has security cameras looking into it. And inform the police of course if the man that knocked on your door lied about his identity.

If i were you, the next time i would see them i would just throw up some gang signs let them know what it is. After that they would probably stop bother you.

Sorry but that advice isnt good at all

You're best bet is to install cameras and keep your dog next to you at night for a couple of weeks, don't leave him on his own and that's also good that you changed the locks on your doors. best thing you can do really.

Move your dog somewhere else for a while ? Or take it inside.Security cameras(real or not) won't do you much good. All they need to do is wear masks. Good thing you're a night owl - leave the lights inside your home on every night for a while. When they find out you are awake all the time, they'll give up. If you have the money, pay some private security company for their services. This is your best bet.

I'd suggest getting an updated alarm system and locks, also get the little signs that alarm system companies have that say protected by . Make it blatantly obvious your protected would make you much less of a target

Ihave an Idea about the signs on the fence, Im not particularly sure if this is what there called but we had a similar sticker problem and we used steel wool scrubs. Just rub them on the sticker and they will scrape off.

    Should I call the police?

Keep your dog inside and keep the garage lights on. Can you keep the dog in the garage? Only let it out when you are able to supervise. Go a head and file a police report. Try to clean the stamps off of the fence as well. A few years ago I caught someone trying to steal my dog and ran outside with a machete in my underwear and counted 4 people running away.

Something to know about gangs: They are not brave unless in big numbers. Gangs most usually do not act aggressive on someone elses turf. Your home is your turf. Visibly showing you are willing to defend your turf from intruders will often keep them away.

These rules usually only apply to minor gangs. By Minor I mean non-adults. The kind of packs of kids you see in cities that steal, do drugs, etc but are not part of an adult gang such as the Bloods or Kripps or MS13 or any of that shit. If you are dealing with an adult gang that such as one of the ones I listed above, there are many more precautions to take.

At the first sign of a firearm, get down or behind something, never run unless there are plenty of obstacles to hide behind while running. Often untrained people with firearms can easily hit a moving target, do not rely on swerving back and forth to save you from a bullet.

If you live in an area that is being terrorized by this kind of gang, have your mom buy a firearm for protection. You can get a small gun and a license to keep it for protection all for under $500.00 USD.

If you feel unsafe to leave your house due to gang activity, another $200 will put you through a class as well as get you a license to carry to a concealed weapon, however you have to be at least 21 to do this.

If in small numbers, you can often scare away a gang with something simple such as a baseball bat or machete, the only problem with this is the possibility a gangmember is armed and may open fire on you.

Call the cops asap. Your house has been marked. Keep your gun handy. This is common practice if you call the place and tell them exactly what happened they will be on alert so if something does happen then they will arrive faster.

Keep your dog inside, record all activity and remove those stamps.
Also check if any thing such as locks and doors or windows have been tampered with. If you feel threatened call the cops.
also you can set up traps like in the movie "Home Alone". In addition keep a description of the man who came to you at 3 am. Check his background history and keep an eye on him.

    Should I call the police?

Let me tell you something, as someone who has witnessed home invasions and has almost been victim to one, knew what you are dealing with. My neighboor who is selling his house had a phony letter thing posted on his garage and door and after a week of not taking it down people with a moving truck came in and within about 10 minutes took all the furniture and shit, they where so fast and had uniforms on with a moving truck they looked like legit and professional. These where adults who had done this before. If your dealing with punk ass kids then a louisville slugger some little bitch from chicago that moved in the house behind me that got it for like 1/3rd of the cost because of a forecloser and the house was almost already paid off, but anyway he tried to steal my playstation and 50inch tv from my room downstairs and When he was unhooking it I swung as hard as i could in the ribs and eventually everywhere else. But once you have him put down don't continue to beat him, you will be charged and have to fight it in court (experience, aggravated assault.)

If you are dealing with a "dog fighting" operation simply just keep the dog in the garage and wait for them bastards to come in the backyard one night. Get em when they do, I know you said your not really manly, but it's not that manly or hard to swing a bat. You said your a night owl so I doubt anything bad will happen when your not home or not awake.

    Should I call the police?

I would remove the marks, get some type of alarm or just a sign to put outside, watch closely whenever you take your dog out, and tell your family and friends about the markings and what they mean.

At the very least you could do is have your family be on watch for a while and if you see or hear anything suspicious do not be afraid to call someone.

Always pray for the best and prepare for the worse.

I'd file a police report at your station. At the least it's vandalism and you'll have something on record if something else happens. KEEP YOUR GARAGE LIGHTS ON.

I'd make a yard sign that reads "Smile, you're on camera", with a smiley face next to it. I've seen these in local car dealerships, I think they work quite well. This would probably be the best solution for you, since you're not one to be violent.

~The best of luck to your family.
