    Hello Sythe Community!

As many of you may or may not know, some time ago I mentioned writing a book. I've wrote many short stories and reports that would not amount to much but a couple months ago I started my first full-length book.

I plan on using the iTunes publishing service, I can't really remember how it works but I did read that it costs $20 and the book gets a real ID number as if I went through a publisher and etc. I will also be offering a free "demo" of the book consisting of a few random chapters for people to see if they like the story. Its not currently finished, in fact its only 1/3 of the way finished and I won't be releasing the demo until its completed either.

Now for my actual question, I have seen E-books costing up to 10.00+ USD, but on average they seem to go for 4.99 USD. Because I am a first-timer would my e-book be worth less than famous authors? If so what should I price it at?

I may do that, but if I were to do so I would only give out a small number of them :p

Also, thank you for the info :)

Honestly I would have to read the demo first to give a price. Because your a new writer I would base the price on the reviews you get, like stated above maybe give out some demo copies on sythe and listen to some reviews (from people you could trust to actually read it, because you know there's going to be someone just saying "good 10/10" for post count). Then base it all off of that. If you do release some demo copies let me know, i know a little about your life from some of your older threads and if you based some things off of your real life encounters it would definitely make for a interesting book.

Its a purely fictional book, set in old times in a fictional land. I would like to compare it to something like the Deltora Quest books without all the damn riddles (lol).

EDIT: I guess the easiest way to label it would be to say it's similar to the elder scrolls in theme and setting, most of the story takes place in the northern icy lands, similar to the skyrim setting and the first part of the story takes place during a civil war, which was somewhat inspired by the skyrim game, but I've always wanted to write about something similar since before skyrim was around.

Why not give out demos to some people and let them judge the price of your book?

Whatever you feel is the right price for the amount of effort you put into the creation for it. Most likely $7 is good.

I'd say free until you built a small fan base then start charging.

Hmm I'd say $3 - $4.99 at the start. If you see an increase in sales then increase the price and try to even it out, good amount of buyers for a good price. It's all up to you, best of luck!

I'd definitely get a few people to read it for free first before you put any price on it (possibly family members/friends in real life if you don't wish to set it out on Sythe). Although, I'd have to agree off the bat with the some of the others; $5 USD at most seems reasonable.

Free is always good until you get a fanbase like someone else said but id price it at like 3.99. I read your other thread and then demo chapter you wrote and i found it pretty good.

Free to start getting a readership going or check the prices of similar books in the same genre and base it on that.

I've seen some new authors, particularly on iTunes/iBookstore offer the first few chapters for free. Then the full book for £1.99/£2.99 - so say 3/4$ to start.

i say meet up with a book club and give them all free copies and ask for reviews lol

i would price it at $3 since it's an e-book, the cheaper the better because more ppl would buy it for cheaper= more copies sold= more money

if you price it high, your sales are going to be terrible

build up, and sell for higher once you get well known
from what i have been reading from you, you seem like a very good writer.
