how do i get rid of the background for flares?

so i have been looking around everywere for tutorials i just cant find one wich isn ton yt... anyway i was hoping some of you could help?

how do you get rid of the black background of flares for eg :

If you're working on something that has a background:

Paste the flare over that layer and choose one of the following blend modes: color dodge, linear dodge, screen, lighten, or lighter color.

If you're working on something transparent (with no background):

Just a quick tut..lol.



I'm sure there's a tutorial out there on Sythe, I'll look for it and edit it in my post just as an alternative option if you don't understand my instructions.
