Well, what you did was very stupid. However we learn from our mistakes.

It's obviously going to bad, it's a punishment...
Just go, serve your time and then get on with life as normal. Your life is perfectly fine other than stealing. People who are homeless and have nowhere to go and no money don't even burgle just for food.

Like I said: learn from your mistakes and live life as normal.

 

I'm having a hard time understanding, do you know why you broke into the house? You said you where hungry but didn't you have food at your house or bother to ask your father?

As Shoop said there's not much you can do except learn from your mistake, go to court confess up and pay them back, don't use any other excuses and hopefully once all is over you'll have a clear mind and you won't feel as guilty.

 

I've done some dumb stuff before, but nothing like that. Why would you do that? Are you homeless and starving?

Consider yourself lucky. You're a minor, so you won't have to do time. If you were 18 and had done this, then you'd be going to jail. Speak politely to the judge and do everything you can to look scared and show him how sorry you are. Chances are you'll just get probation assuming this is your first offense. Possibly some time in a juvenile detention center. I'd recommend you get a lawyer if you can afford one. Just learn from your mistakes and don't do it again. I've dealt with multiple charges and have done a good bit of jail time. Of course it sucks, but life goes on. Hopefully this experience will scare you enough for you not to want to do it again. There isn't too much you can do about it right now, so just accept the consequences and move on.

Honestly, it sounds like you need some help. I don't mean that in a mean way at all. You are clearly pretty insecure with yourself if you dropped out of school because you don't like who you are (this will also look bad in front of the judge by the way and he'll most likely hold it against you and might think you need some time in a detention center). Maybe a little bit of a time in a detention center will do you good though. I know that sounds hard to believe right now, but it's true. If you have anxiety, then going to a place like that will definitely help. Trust me, I have a lot of experience with this kind of stuff. I went to military school at your age and I just got out from doing 3 months in jail. Nothing is better in getting rid of your anxiety. If you can handle that, then you can handle just about anything. This will make you a much stronger person in the long run. It took me several years to realize that, but now I'm glad I went through what I did. Just stay strong and try to see things positively no matter how hard things get. This is just a small part of your life and it'll be over soon.

 

On a serious note, why not apply for a job? Seriously, no offence but why did you keep going to steal from the house over and over and over? Honestly, after not getting caught the first few times you should of took it as a lucky break. Anyways live and learn I guess. If it dosent kill you it only makes you stronger!!

 

Fortunately you didn't commit the crimes as an adult. As for what you did, it's definitely not as stupid as shoplifting a designer hat from the mall, it was a crime of necessity. Tbh, the only thing I can suggest is trying to get a job, but it's hard to get anyone to hire you at 18.

 

Not sure how it works from where you're from but here in Australia, teenagers under 18 won't get in serious trouble for a crime unless it's a repetitive crime and being caught over and over.
The law doesn't intentionally wanna screw over and youngsters life by throwing him behind bars or input a criminal record unless the occasion calls for it.

You'll probably get a fine, expect re-reimbursement of theft and maybe some sort of court-ordered counselling to help you get your life back on track.

I'm glad you were caught at least now you can get better and hopefully make some positive life changes. You really have no one else to blame here but yourself so don't give anyone a sob story about how your dad beat you or cry in front of the judge. If you were hungry you could have went to a soup kitchen or a church maybe even CFS? Considering you're a minor you can probably end up in a foster home for having such negligent parents.

Where do you live? There's states who charge minors as adults if the crime is serious enough.

 

Get a lawyer. I can't believe only one person in this thread has said that so far. That's the most important thing for you to do right now.

Unfortunately, if he's in the USA much more than this is going to happen, even if he's just a poor 15 year old child.

I'm not sure what to tell you man. Your life will go on, but this might make it even harder for you to find a job with burglary on your record.

I don't believe that you were "hungry" and decided to break into someones house. You have a computer, or at least some form of communication (you're typing to us aren't you?), so you're not poor enough to not have food. If your parents do not care for you like someone said, you should have contacted child services and went to a foster home.

Anyways, i have no other advice to offer then to take your punishment and get a lawyer.

 

Well, whats done is done. Best to move on and fix the wrong. Just a simple question, if you have parents why are you hungry and why drop out? Stick until you graduate atleast or find a job. The court wont do much, as they really cant. After 18 the record doesn't really matter, you will probably get a fine or can serve juvie, your choice or maybe community service and definitely probation.

 

You deserve to be punished first and foremost, lucky for you @ only 15 they can't do that much to you. Get a lawyer and learn from this mistake and go back to being a good citizen.

 

Stealing food because you were hungry? You don't just break into someones house, steal 80$, and take their food just because your dad forgot to give you enough money to go to subway. What you did was selfish and idiotic. Don't feel sorry for yourself or ask anyone else for their pity. Take your punishment, and think about giving back to the community.

oh and thank those people you robbed. They knew you were breaking in, and they could have shot you in self-defense.

Hey man, don't worry about it. Everyone makes mistakes. I broke into a house six or seven years ago with another kid and stole some jewelry. We ended up telling people and got caught but no charges were pressed because I don't know why. I felt bad but there's no reason to. Sure you should apologize and feel sorry for the people you broke into, but you need to cheer up and move on. Shit only gets better in life.

 

minor, you won't get that bad of a punishment. If anything your parents will for not feeding you.

 

Silly thing to do but what can you do now learn and move on.

 

Get a lawyer. Worse case scenario, juvenile detention until your 18. If you don't know what that is, its pretty much a jail for people under the age of 18.

Is there a reason you didn't just eat at your house? Does your family have a lack of funds to pay for food? If this is the case you can probably get off with probation if you have a good lawyer.

You may be able to get off on just probation either way. Explain the situation truthfully to the judge if you are given the chance. Some judges will only allow the defendant to speak when they ask them a question or ask if they want to plead innocent or guilty.

In any case ALWAYS address the judge as "your honor". NEVER say "sir" or "ma'am". I had court for a class D felony of non-support yesterday and I watched someone get YELLED at for calling the judge ma'am instead of your honor.

If given the chance, express guilt, even if you don't feel guilty. Show that you are very sorry for what you did, even if you really aren't. (Unless you are pleading innocent, in that case, act like you did nothing wrong).

From experience, pleading innocent and acting innocent don't work very often, especially if you admitted to police that you were guilty. As you DID claim to be guilty to police, you MUST stick with the guilty plea or you may get a more severe punishment than you would from not pleading innocent.
