Help...

I was using my Mac Book Pro today when it suddenly shut down. I noticed that it was also EXTREMELY hot after the shutdown. It was plugged in and 100% charged when this happened (about and hour ago). Now it won't turn back on, regardless of it being plugged in or not. It has also returned to a normal star of heat by now ofc.

Is my computer permanently broken or can it be fixed?
If the first one, how can I (if possible) transfer my data? If the second one, is it something I can do at home or will it require a new battery?

If it's only been an hour I'd wait, the same thing happened to my old laptop and it would turn off *even when plugged in* because of how hot it got, I always used to stick mine in the fridge for a few hours if it did this *probably not something you should do but it's what I did* and then it finally just you know, never turned on again.

If it's the first time it's done it, I'd wait 24 hours and then try and turn it on again.
I'm not sure about the moving data around, you could always go to a computer shop and get the memory hard drive? I was planning on doing that but just ended up throwing the laptop away.

 

If there is an Apple Store near you, I suggest you take it there and go to the genius bar. You don't want to "try something out" and end up causing even more damage to it.

happened to me once and i just let time do its thing and it started up, BTW its bad to keep the charger in 24/7

 

If you charge 24/7 it happens regularly, my laptop does it all the time

 

I just bought a new laptop, Geek Squad said that there's no way to fix it for a price that was reasonable. Because of the overheating other stuff got messed up inside. I still may be able to salvage the hard drive though.

 

If its really got broken badly just because of the overheating your cooler must have been broken anyway enjoy your new pc!
