I have always thought this, I think it's more hassle than it's worth. Some scammer will buy SVU and go on a scamming spree with noobs who look at the rank as some form of highly trusted rank. We all know nothing will come of a police report, it's pointless.

 

I think it could be of benefit if information is released, look at kldg for example, prime example of what good this info could be used for.

 

What is the point of even having the information, no police are going to go into a full scale investigation into a RSGP scam, just release the information to the person that got scammed or else it's fucking useless

I made a push for clarification a while ago, you've worded the doe subpoena thing better than I had so I'll bring it up again. I do agree that as written it is misleading and gives users with the SVU rank much more trust than deserved or intended

 

i agree on the trusted mod, and utl should be removed, i mean $5 for a rank to potentialy scam $100's.

rather silly, if they wont use the info to file police reports then the fuck is the point of getting their info regardless if police take action.

my kldg statement still stands, he managed to get his money back after talking to the kids parents/grandparents.

 

I think MRangeM has summed it up perfectly here too, if they have signed up for the rank and signed the disclaimer that their personal information will be given out in the event of a scam, surely Sythe can't be held accountable? This would stop multiple scams as people would know that their personal information is not secure.

 

I would support SVU being removed if the current owners of it were provided satisfactory compensation. I don't see that it serves a purpose at all - how many police reports has Sythe had in its history?

The difficulty lies in finding compensation that will appease current holders of the rank, who would also have to believe that their personal details have been deleted.

 

There is a use to SVU you guys are missing. Scammers who have gotten SVU and scammed before with it, should never be able to get SVU under the same identity again in the future. So over time, certain people will be weeded out. Obviously though, it's quite easy to use a different phone # etc.

 

I am in support of this tbh. Also Roary what if this site adds a notice saying if you purchase this verified user you are allowing us to disclose your private information on the event that you have scammed another individual. I think police have real issues to deal about, not that theft isn't a serious matter but theft of virtual goods that are copyrighted and us selling it is copyright infringement they wouldn't be able to do a thing.

 

We can't give out info like that to just anyone, it's law enforcement or nobody.

Most law enforcement officers wouldn't give a damn about these situations. However, many Sythe users live at home. If they used their home phone number, there's a great possibility that people can call their parents and let them know that their kids are thieves, and hopefully the parents will be responsible enough to make them pay back, providing we give them proof.

 

Even with a cell phone number it's possible to get names, other phone numbers, addresses, etc for a few dollars. Excellent decision, Richard. Now the system actually has some use.

Really? I guess if you make people aware that by signing up they are AGREEING to have their details sent to victims if they are found 'guilty' of a scam, there is no issue.

I totally agree though, if you scam on here people should have the oppertunity to find out excatly who has scammed them.

If the information were to be released and a subject took it under his or her responsibility to punish the liable individual, if something harmful or harassing were to happen YOU would be liable.
