Avatars

This is the current rule: "Oversized Avatar: Avatars have a maximum size of: 80x80 for users, 150x100 for staff and donators (width x height)"

My friend recently registered an account and saw this:

She tried to upload a 100x100 avatar and of course it didn't work.

tl;dr: edit the "choose an avatar" page to say 80x80 instead of 100x100

Choose a profile picture/choose an avatar are essentially the same thing. Having two different pages could easily confuse new users. I suggest that we should just delete one of them.

 

In regards to the first issue, the "Edit Avater" page does in fact say "Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 80 by 80 pixels or 64.0 KB (whichever is smaller)."



The "Edit Profile Picture" is where it states the "100x100" and it does allow images of that size as I just tested it. So your friend was most likely trying to upload something greater than the 64kB allowed causing the error. However, what I fail to see is where this "Profile Picture" gets displayed as with or without an avatar there is no change under my user profile. So from what I can gather this "Edit Profile Picture" function is currently broken.



Also, I don't believe they should be merged/deleted into one as they're clearly meant to be two different things.

Avatar: Avatars are small graphics that are displayed under your username whenever you post.
Profile Picture: Profile pictures are small pictures of your self, that are displayed within your user profile.

 

It's fine.
