Add Dota 2 game discussions.

I was thinking of a section named 'DotA 2 Key giveaways' or something so people in need of them can find us via google and maybe join the forum as well. I have a few keys I can give away in that case.

you still din't answer my question, how is it going to drive traffic to the site just because it has its own section?

also you don't need a specific section to discuss it.

 

How do forums attract traffic? Answer it yourself, I don't think it's that hard to imagine.

 

so you are basicly wanting a section for dead discussion anyways? i looked it over and seen maybe 3-4 threads about dota 2 if that? <not counting whats in the market>

So tell me how creating its own section is going to drive traffic from other already well-known and etablished sites to ours, were we have about 3-5 people who talk about the game, and maybe 2-3 or do it activly.

I imagine there are much more Dota 2 players on Sythe, than your suggested 3-5. Most of the people don't come to the Town Hall section, nor do they care about the suggestions themselves. The relative amount of people who would discuss it, would be around 20-30 (though I assume it's somewhat going past 100 line). Due to the traffic this section itself gets, it's not right to judge the number of people in Sythe who play Dota 2.

As with any other discussion, people want to find friends with whom they could play the game, as you should've noticed with several other games, such as League of Legends, Minecraft, Private Runescape severs, Official Runescape and whatnot. It's hard to create a discussion for Dota 2, when the only MOBA type games discussion is LoL forums in which Dota 2 players will probably not discuss.

To my knowledge, there are 3 places where people could engage in discussions about Dota 2.
First one is playdota.com forums, where people are beyond your knowledge about Dota and you usually don't understand what they're talking about.
Second one is dev.dota2.com where you just provide feedback for the game and it doesn't lead anywhere apart from trolling and maybe some mechanics discussion.
Third one is valve discussion forum, which is somewhat stupid to even start to engage as the number of Russians using google translate is a little bit overwhelming.

Anyways, the whole point is that I don't really see where could I engage in somewhat of a friendly and a somewhat interesting discussion. I'd like to see threads like - how much have you spent on Dota 2, what's your opinion on that and that hero and so on. If there are people who will (like me) look for a forum where they could discuss Dota 2, I believe if there's a dedicated forum on Sythe, they'll find it on google or whatever the search engine they use and that will bring some traffic. Also, forums develop through people spreading the word if the forum is good enough. Some forums tend to get popular from advertising and other things.

So tell me again, what is so bad about creating forums for a game that has 3,5 million player base in western world? We can't count Chinese, since they're not counted due to legal reasons, but they're not much of a community contributors either.

 

There isn't a need for it at the moment. If you search dota 2 discussion on Sythe through google, you'll find yourself linked to this thread and about 2-4 other threads, which aren't very active. For now, it's not needed.
