I was eating ranch corn nuts and havin a nice cold glass of mead to get the summer started... bit down on a corn nut and sumthing didnt feel right... took came out in 3 pieces, left a huge hole in the gum and everything. But its not bleeding, and theres still a few parts of tooth sticking out of the gum, but none of the center of the tooth is gone, just a few sharp thin points of enamel are left and seem to be very strongly attached.

Something to worry about? or not?

It didnt hurt at all, just felt weird. I dont have any insurance and cant afford to go to the dentist so if it is something to worry about, what kind of home remedies would you suggest?

    Broke a tooth out.

Is it a baby tooth or a permanent one? This would be essential to asses the issue in it's entirety. I'm positive you will need to get it looked at if it is a permanent tooth, due to the fact that an abscess could occur, which is essentially a painful infection. If it is a baby tooth it shouldn't be much to worry about, as that generally happens naturally.

Well, you probably did something wrong when you removed the abcess. Are you sure you can't go see a dentist? This seems pretty serious.

I would definitely recommend seeing a dentist. I mean, you don't want to do permanent damage over something like this.

I didn't think dentists where that expensive? Well they're not in Australia.
I did the same thing while chewing on a bottle cap to my tooth right at the back and now it's kind of missing a chunk in the middle, I just left it and it was fine over time, I don't think it sounds *that* serious.

    No lmao!
If it's the same as mine, the tooth is broken on the inside and now it's just a few shards sticking up you'll be fine, not to mention it smooths out over time but I have a bad habit of playing with it and sticking my tongue inside it which I shouldn't because I cut myself the first few days it happened.

I have 3 broken teeth. Haven't done shit about them either, and I'm fine still, even after 5 years.

Yeah I'd get it looked at. I had a chunk of tooth break off while pulling some stuck food from it, but luckily it was one of my wisdom teeth which I'm getting removed in a couple months anyway. If theres a few parts of the tooth left in the gum then it's more than likely pretty prone to infection, a dentist would probably remove the parts and clean it up

Me too, i cant stop fuckin with it with my tongue, especially when I get food in the hole, I wont allow myself to go pick it out with a needle, instead i sit around for bout 30 mins diggin with my tongue, the day after it happened I got a piece of beef jerky stuck in the hole, and when I was done digging at it, my tongue was dripping blood from the 4 or 5 cuts right across the tip of my tongue D:

But it has started to smooth down a little, or maybe my tongue has just gotten tougher, it still kinda hurts when my tongue hits the point, but it doesnt actually break any skin.

No way to take a pic atm. Might at a later time, but as of right now I expect I'll just ignore it

One of the things I was looking for her, as a "home remedy" is not "fixing" the tooth, like so many of you are suggesting, or messing with an infection or anything like that. I just want to know if theres anything I should do at home to fix the tooth...

Could I take a metal file and file the point away? Should I put some kind of medicine inside of the hole in my gum? what kind? ETC. a home remedy IS NOT going to the dentist.... just thought I would fill people in, because not many people seem to be helping with my questions.
