Artist of the Month

Concept
Randomly select an artist from the graphics section and have them showcase their earliest to most recent artwork, favorite pieces etc.

Have them talk about how they first got into the type of graphics that they do. Have them discuss things like their style, what sort of things they'd like to learn how to do, people that have inspired them etc.

This would run every month or so with a different artist each time. If the person chosen doesn't want to participate a new artist would be chosen.

Purpose
• Get people recognized for their artwork
• Bring some activity
• Learn new things about Sythe's artists

Just a rough idea, feel free to expand.

That would be cool but how does someone get randomely chosen? like are you gonna choose the person or is there a vote or something?

 

I was thinking maybe you could pm me or moonglare or whoever runs it in a period of time if you'd like to be a part of it and randomize the names and select one.

Either that or have a sign up thread, anything really.

This is a great idea, also shuld have contests as well.

 

why not just create a thread in the gallery, and have anyone who would like to sumbit artwork in the thread, and tie it to one post per person, so instead of them spamming the thread, they just update their OP and add new work, and have moonglare, and whoever he selects, to go through the art, and select the best artist they choose.


Keeping it bias free, spam free, and can't be faked i.e. guy having all his buddies vote for him.

make a select panel of judges who are ethier talented, or have a keen eye vote. of course they would be unable to be the artist of the month, so rotate said panel around, which would ultimately ,make the section more active, have new input, and give people something to look forward too.

Will the chosen person get anything for participating other than exposure?

Yeah we were thinking about maybe adding in a mini rank for the duration of a month.

 

This is a superb idea. Full support. This can get people motivated and it has the potential of bringing more creative GFX artists in the graphics section.
