    Not really, never before (in my experience) have I seen Jagex search around any RS cheating related forum to gather evidence to ban. It just recently within the past month or so has Jagex really clamped down on banning people for macroing and RWT and I've never seen them go as far as to looking onto other sites for evidence!

    It very possible, all of the big cheating/bot/market sites are no big secret.
    They can easily google

    "Runescape Name" (with quotes for exact match) Sythe (or Villavu, TriBot, RiD, etc.) but they can't really ban for name alone, he happened to post hard evidence too.

    ex: Search: ("07Nerd" Sythe) and on the first page you can see his thread "20 day ban - Sythe.Org Forums" http://www.sythe.org/runescape-2007-cheating/1565765-20-day-ban.html on which there is an image of his ban. ;)
