Botters will keep RS07 alive

...As long as they keep getting banned.

When Jagex brought back Runescape Classic, the game experienced what RS07 would surely experience if the same circumstances occured. There was an insignificant number of new players, and so everyone became maxed and the game lost its fun. Many were botters, and since Jagex didn't moderate the game and ban them, they did not return.

People are saying that bots are going to ruin RS07, but in fact, as long as Jagex keeps a steady rate of bans, new players will keep joining the game and it will flourish as it should. If bots were removed, or if Jagex didn't ban people for botting, people would generally keep the same accounts and the game would get very old very fast.

Botters make other people want to quit the game...The only reason people will play 07 is because of staking/pking. Botters ruin the economy/make it harder for real players to play...I'd be completely fine if wBot, Powerbot, Simba, Scar, and anything else bot-related didn't exist anymore. The true fun of runescape comes when YOU PLAY IT. No fun in botting...And the gold prices will be meniscule in a few weeks so gold farming just to sell the gold won't
really be worth it...

 

Those who quit and those who keep making accounts do not balance each other out at all. There will always be more accounts being made than people who quit, the ratio is like 100:1 lol

 

Going to have to disagree. Community definitely doesn't NEED bots to stay alive. Would do better without them IMO.

 

No new people would join, you'd just have a bunch of people with 99s running around. That gets boring after a while, so you'd get more people quitting and fewer people joining. New played coming to Runescape don't want to play the older game, because they never played it. They'd want the newer product just because it's newer.

 

Bots just piss people off imo.

I'd rather have a small/limited community that I can actually play with and enjoy than bots that aren't enriching the server's gameplay in any way.

Even if you were to say 'They give you the resources that you need so badly', in reality I'm OK with getting it myself.

 

I remember when scar was the only bot back in 06 along with rs demon or whatever it was the Chinese dudes used. That was the OG RS. Now with bots 07 doesn't have exactly the same feel..

 

Theres been some form of bot since classic, just simple color reading programs made to do something simple like mine and drop back then but still. I'd say bots 'did' keep RS alive until they became incredibly easy to get and use. After that jagex started with bans and attempts to hinder bots, so then people lost their mains because they botted and ended up either quitting or making new accounts and only botting.

Perhaps if they did keep up with bans and such then bot use would be low enough that it'd help more than hinder but I bet in the end RS will slowly die again simply because there will be a huge ratio of bots to actual players.

 

I agree without bots runescape doesn't exist.

There are plenty of non botters keeping the game alive too... But i suppose botters do help; although they have fucked the economy >_>

 

If we had no bots and thus a small/limited community probably Jagex would shut RS07 down. And if they didn't, they'd be charging us an additional 15$ a month, and I'm surely not paying 25$ to play a game, that's just too much.

And the resources argument is still valid, because there is some stuff you just cbf to get.

Bots help stabalize the economy greatly, if there wasnt bots, everything would be so much more inflated then they are now.

Bots are needed to an extent. However whether I like them is a another matter. I've personally never botted when I played RS, and would still chose not to if I were to play again.

 

Guess what I'm trying to say is bots do help but they are not NEEDED in my opinion.

 

People that play 07 are going to make multiple accounts regardless...If my account gets banned I'm more likely to quit before I made a new account...

 

i agree just look at flax it was around 70 ea same as bowstrings and now flax has lowered in value... this makes legit players mad i guess since the prices seem to drop so much because of bots

The only thing that pisses me off about bots is goldfarmers how they make money irl by botting

But that would also mean that you can make more money per hour doing what bots do.

Flax was 60k+ an hour, and this was when there wasnt much GP in the game. Now it's a pathetic 30k an hour with quite a bit pumped into the game. 60k an hour at the prices of GP back then was amazing money, 30k is nothing now.

Bots bring more items into the game, makes it easier and cheaper to get those 99 skills. But it was once a challenge to get 99s when the items were hard to get. The feel of when someone had a skill cape will soon be gone in a few months.

Bots were okay at one point, when people used them to skill without suicide. Now it will be all that with gold farmers preparing their bot farm.
